please log in to view this image longman completely taking one of the centre halfs out leaving pelkas space longman this time on the left holds and turns with the ball then gives it to sinik who then gives it to slater and a wonderful goal slater outside of the foot to longman who this time is on the right, longman fires it back across to slater and games won longman is not a finishing forward, nor does he need to be, he's been a completely pivotal part of 10 points out of 12 last four away games, insulting to constantly call a city player **** and useless especially when it's completely the opposite
He wasn't noticed or involved at all and that's how it should be. It was probably the best ref performance I've seen in the champ
It's ignorance mate. And the knee jerk bed wetting mentality that there always needs to be a scapegoat, whether player, manager, owner etc.. It's ****ing ridiculous. Finger pointing flip-flop bollocks. Does more harm than good.
I can't actually believe some of the reaction i've read to us trying to implement an attractive style of football. For 70 minutes we were excellent and had control of the game. A couple of mistakes cost us, but that's always going to happen. As the players become more accustomed these mistakes will happen less often. We actually played out through their press and created a couple good chances in the first half, but people seem to conveniently ignore that. The players are also doing this after 1/2 training sessions with Rossie. Imagine it next year. I do worry how the home fans will react on Saturday, the dinosaurs will be on the players back after 5 minutes which won't help anyone.
Oh its been Tufan, Seri, Woods, Ingram, Baxter, Acun, Jones, Figs, Greaves, Coyle, Elder, Acun again and Pardo already. Not just Longman. It's the baying-mob mentality. Gotta be a villain so they can light their torches and reach for the pitchforks...
it's a theory i've had recently the last few away games we've not been afraid to slow the game down at times, to try and gain some composure/slow the opposition but i'm not sure it'll work at home the groans will be out and we try and play too fast, breaking shape home games tend to have a different kinda of pressure and expectation to away games
i've said tufan should have been dropped becasue i didn't think he worked in the starting 11 currently but i didn't constantly say he's useless and **** and a pretend footballer
I always had high hopes for Longman, he went off the boil 2nd half of last season, and was expectedly poor earlier this season when thrown into a struggling side fresh from a lengthy absence and missing most of pre season, but he’s looking like a much more complete player now. I said at the time he was an absolute steal at £700k and that’s beginning to look like it could turn out to be a heist worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster. Can’t really grasp why he’s been taking flack.
You have to admit the first Cardiff goal was comical. The defence was shaken by even a slight press from Cardiff. But we eventually moved it forward to exploit the space in a comeback spell and unlike some earlier games we don't have to remember that moment. We've lost to some poor teams but this time we pulled ourselves out of it.
Where'd the abuse come from? Obviously I have an idea of 'where from' and 'who' but some of it was homophobic apparently and I'm sure he's got a missus. Do they think he's actually Gay or just randomly corrolate that particular lifestyle choice with footballing ability? What's that say about the attitudes of those giving it out? Is that really the kind of knuckle draggers who come to games these days? If it is, bring back the prawn sandwich years....
So we concede under pressure trying to play through their press and go on to win the game. We conceded 1 through a **** up when drawing them on. We scored 3 and bossed it for 70 mins utilising the space which you call 'pissing out at the back' created by drawing their attacking line onto our defence and making space between their lines to play in Its exactly what Rosie meant by our defenders and goalkeeper being attackers when in possession of the ball, wherever on the pitch that may be. You'd be whinging also when we let them settle into a deep shape, it's attack vs defence and we can't break them down so play side to side also, I take it?
Maybe because he’s from Brighton’s academy? It’s completely unwarranted, no performance deserves that kind of flak. FWIW I think he’s a great player. He’s not looked confident in the first part of the season, but he’s being given a chance to thrive and he’s taking it, can’t fault him for that.
Young lad doing well. He's got real ability, works his nuts off, gets stuck in hasn't let us down despite his youth. Chances he's fluffed he was a big part in creating so kind earned the right to miss them. Not got such great pace, but if he had, he wouldn't be signing for us for 700k. He has a very good career ahead of him.
I never said 'pissing about at the back', nor did I whinge about what the opposition does. I don't mind playing it out when you have players confident/technical enough to do it. And though people are praising Rosenior for this the reality is we've been doing this ok in some other games this season, while also having regular slip ups. Didn't Rosenior even pick the same side Dawson did away from home? I'd say we played better at Rotherham, but we did enough when needed against a Cardiff team that may not concede that many but also don't score much. I like the movement but that's what we've been trying this season anyway. The problem is some players aren't as used to being flexible and sometimes can't get back in position.
