Can't imagine the news over the last 24hrs did much to help the Luton squad feel settled for tonight's game.
Despite the scoreline, I like the way they play so far. Move the ball purposefully forward (not in a hoof way). You’d imagine it’s a tough one for them tonight, knowing their manager is off.
Why is the Luton keeper wearing a jersey that looks, on my screen, close to being the same colour as the outfield shirts?
Did you post somewhere saying that we should be looking at him Ian? I can't recall anyone suggesting him at the time so saying we should have sounds a bit like 'where was our crystal ball that could have showed us he would be good at burnley in 6 months?'.
So how do you explain managers who have never even played? I get that you’re instantly relatable if you are an ex top player, but a team will follow a good leader regardless of their background.
I think the only way he doesn't come to us is if Poch phones Ankersen tonight saying I'm bored, I want to come back to PL management.
Ian's point isn't so much that top ex players draw talent, more that top managers draw talent and some of those are high profile ex-players. There will be a getting to know you period from cold that there wouldnt be if we all knew his level and track record. I feel like we have signed a lot of young players who have seen what we were capable of under Hassenhutl, signed up for the project and now find that they will be led by a manager who has currently peaked at Luton Town. When you've come from City and Chelsea there will be an instant WTF reaction from players just like there is from most of us. Nobody will be thinking that Nathan Jones is the man I want to coach me because nobody will know anything about him bar the 2nd choice GK. Selles though will be the continuity and players will have to give NJ a chance because like us there will be no choice in the matter. Hopefully, they like what they get but he will have his work cut out to inspire them to greater belief because he has no track record to point to and say 'I did this there, now I'm going to do it here'. I would give my right arm to be there and see what his approach is but will have to settle for watching his first game in charge and seeing the response on the pitch.
Well, gee, I wonder who 'the source' was for Tanswell Could it be the embittered striker from Brisbane in the A-League?
