How much did they buy the club for? And what do they value it at now. It has to be worth as much as Chelsea? Have they really not put anything in? They must have grown the revenue streams well to buy the top players you have.
I’ve not read the thread but I’m guessing Scousers are setting to smell the coffee… look at the table… and realise there’s another dog on the block and one with a bigger dick.
Youre nearly right. Its Toon fans smelling the coffee and realising that Liverpool backed by huge wealth means theyll always just be Newcastle really.
The struggles Liverpool are enduring this season – they are only eighth in the Premier League - might be a signal they want fresh investment in the club. Funny this. Dippers have spent a **** tonne and have a squad 3x the cost of ours…. And a revenue stream that massively dwarfs ours.. yet Eddies mags fly high…. almost as if Turkey teeth ain’t that good this season…
Sounds like your comfortable that youll still be flying high come may... Or whenever it is this season actually ends. Youll deffo bottle top 4 imo
£300m they got it for. revenue and commercial side can’t fault them. They’ve put us into 21st century in terms of the deals they made and growing that side of business. Under klopp our net spend is about 28m a season. We’ve spent money, but it’s generally been money earned from transfers out. Which isn’t bad business, but it’s not the owners sticking hand in pocket. After we won the CL, we didn’t buy anyone. Minamino was got in the Jan for 7.5m. That was time to go and out down £100m and reinforce the squad, but didn’t happen and luckily klopp did he thing. Tried to get away with it again this summer with only bringing in Nunez to replace mane, but hasn’t worked the same way when the team needed investment in midfield. As I say, we’ve spent money. And fsg have provided a small amount of it as our net spent is plus, but when you look at money that our rivals have put into their pockets, it’s very small amounts. Especially for owners who got the club for essentially pennies.
screenshotted. Im on record mofo as saying we’ll be top 4. Within 3 years. looks like LFC have already thrown in the towel though…
Rattled. Reality - A poorer, ****ter country or emirate buys you - see Dubai. A US hedgefund buys you - same scenario you are in currently A US Consortium buys you with a leveraged buy out - FUNNY AS **** Red Bull buys you - Name change and still can't compete. Red Bird buys you - they already own 10% of you so much of the same other than a cluster **** when you draw Milan or Toulouse in the Europa League. Radcliffe buys you - Man Utd fan will have a hoot owning Liverpool. That daft **** that runs Kwik E Mart buys you but gets bossed around by his paymasters the Saudi PIF. Not looking good from the outside. Meanwhile we sit in 3rd having not even dipped a toe in out transfer budgets
They just dont respect you is all Its like when lottery winners attend royal galas, yeh you can pay for the bottle but no one wants to sniff Charlie back at yours after
I'll be honest, I think they've done well and done you proud. They've spent money on the infrastructure, increased the capacity of Anfield, got you a top class manager and improved the squad over time. From my point of view if I'm looking at that as an investment though (figure I'm hearing touted is £4bn) where the hell do they make a profit? That takes you into A) State ownership as a sportswashing model. B) a leveraged buyout. C) or ideally a really wealthy supporting Liverpool fan that says **** the cost. Please feel free to add to this as I'm genuinely not taking the piss, I'll be fascinated to see which way it goes.
Your first point. They haven’t spent money on infrastructure. They loaned the money to the club which the club is now paying back. Therefore the club have paid for the training ground, the stadium. Fsg haven’t put any of their own money into that. And I fully agree with where does that leave us in terms of new owners. Hand on heart and I think a lot of others on here feel sue way, woukdnt want to be brought out in same way city, you, chelsea have with bottomless money just thrown at it. I think ideal world, fsg model is perfect. Self sustained, club pays for itself, and I think fsg brought club thinking ffp would be a enforced and much more strict. Given that’s not the case, their model can’t bring long term sustained success. So who buys us? I’ve honestly no idea. Someone with enough money to put hand in pocket at times after shelling out billions, but also let’s the football men at the club run the club and not getting too involved. No one with dodgy morals (hard given most billionaires make their money by doing some kind of dodgy deals or exploiting someone). Honestly, would be nice to get to a stage where the owner of your club doesn’t really matter. Where it’s not about who has the richest owners, but fifa and uefa can’t and won’t put in a proper ffp
I liked Klopp, until this season that is. He's turning into the new Jose, whining on. Shame really as he was so likeable.
