    Gary Gowers on Hayden:

"This was the Isaac Hayden we’ve been waiting for. A dominant force in the centre of the pitch who provides a shield in front of our two centre-backs while offering a rock-solid platform from which the rest of the midfield can operate. It’ll never be eye-catching. He’ll seldom hit a raking 40-yarder or an eye-of-a-needle pass to release Pukki in the channel, but he’ll scrap and harry and win balls he shouldn’t. And when teams look to hit us on the break, he’ll be there to get a foot in or intercept."

Actually it's 16 different scorers CS. And Cantwell is not one of them. But his comments when arriving at Bournemouth are what I cannot forgive.

Agree to a point 're Pukki, but Peters, Forbes, Stringer, Fleck, Roberts are 5 that spring to mind who could have that accolade attributed to them also. Just a matter of perspective I guess.

It was something like how glad he was to get out of there (NCFC). It didn't look good at the time, but he had dug himself into a pretty deep hole with his petulant behaviour about transfers which meant he played little part in the first half of last season then went on loan to Bournemouth. They had an option to buy him but didn't and he returned to us.

IMO, what players say is far less important than what they do on the pitch. This season he's been fully committed in his appearances as he seeks to resurrect his career and that's what I'll judge him by. Presumably he's been doing the hard work in training as well to earn his inclusion in the matchday squads but he'll have to make a decision about signing a new contract before January. If he doesn't we'll look to get what we can during the window. He scored 14 goals last time in the Championship and that potential is still there.

I forgot about that. That's the sort of thing I meant by "keeping his head."

Cantwell isn't the first player to have got on the wrong side of Farke.

He's still young and deserves a clean slate .

    I agree with Dunc

If I recall correctly, Cantwell’s comments were slightly misconstrued (or you could equally argue deliberately ambiguous), in that he seemed really to be saying that he was glad to have found a way to play and not be in the midst of the negative personal position at Norwich. Which I think you can also interpret as a fair comment about him needing to be away from the club for a bit and I take no issue with that - he wasn’t outright insulting or offensive, the reality was it wasn’t working for him. Now he seems much more focused and yes he’s not getting “hard” results in goals and assists, but he’s definitely contributing IMO.

Or he could have kept his mouth shut and got on with playing for Bournemouth. To my mind he was disrespectful to the club that had nurtured him and made him the player he had become. I doubt very much that he will sign a nespecially contract with us and I can see him leaving for a pittance in Jan, or on a free in the summer .Where t? Well, not a club higher up the spectrum than US is my guess.

I don’t disagree, I think it’s difficult though as he would have been asked the question by the Bournemouth local press and pretty much any answer is going to put him in a sticky position or be misinterpreted

I think he’s in a funny position now though - if he wants out, fine (though he’s not showing it as he’s working hard again). But if he wants to play in the Premier League, given his personal stats at the moment I think his best chance is actually to sign on with us and take a risk on us getting promoted. I don’t see any other promotion hopeful or Premier League club taking him on.

I personally really hope that he signs on with us again. If he performs he could get a move but at the moment he seems really motivated, despite his stats I think he has been good for us this season
