Examples of violent conduct reds being reduced? Curious, do you have any examples? As I was also under the impression they were always 3 games.
I've definitely heard of bans getting reduced, just never really seen them for red cards for violent conduct. Either they're overturned or the length is upheld, so would be curious.
Violent conduct means punching someone, raising hands to the face, kicking out at a player angrily, etc. Deliberate violent acts, nothing to do with tackling or trying to play the ball. I've still not seen any confirmation of what Oscar's offence was reported as by the ref. Rosenior mentioned his hope that it wouldn't go down as dangerous or reckless play as that would be a 3-game ban. I'm not sure what possible offence it could go down as which would be a 1 game ban, but Rosenior seemed to think there was one and I suspect he knows what he's on about.
We're waiting for the referees report to see what it was classed as, the appeal is dependent on what it says. I remember Rooney getting a three match reduced to two matches, not sure how, as he was sent off off for deliberately kicking someone. It’s serious foul play when it’s a foul on an opponent when the ball is in play. Violent conduct is as mentioned deliberate acts of violence out of play. The Leeds player reduction was because 2 game ban for dissent, which is presumably what he was actually guilt of, as opposed to violent conduct.
Tbf the best thing for us and any appeal is for it to go down as violent conduct. As if it does we can quite confidently argue that it's not and therefore a 3 match ban is not warranted and have the ban reduced

You don't get a straight red for dissent, he had a go at the officials on the way off, it's not what he was sent off for.
