Thanks Ralph, I`m sorry it`s ended in the sack rather than some kind of mutual arrangement. We played some great stuff under you. All the best for the future.
Sad it’s come to this. But it is the correct decision. First two years was genuinely a ****ing brilliant manager. But he’s completely lost his way this calendar year. I don’t know if we have the squad to massively improve things and stay in this league. But we have to try something. Thanks Ralph. Your integrity is rare. You were almost too honest at times.
Thanks Ralph for the good times, and for being a genuine decent guy. I’m a bit sad, but it was time. Seems things had soured, and he deserves more than drawn out tirade against him. We definitely need a fresh approach.
Bit messy the way this has come out. Would have preferred him to get the sack the day after beating Liverpool tbh. Good luck to Ralph, and good luck to his successor.
Think it is the right decision for a change. Am unsure if we will stay up anyway as the squad is poor but this was the only thing we could change to influence it now, and hopefully we get a couple of players in in January as well. Interested to see who the new manager is, Nathan Jones would be pretty funny so I’m all in on him atm
Jones has done a great job at Luton but he completely flopped at Stoke. And we think he could make the even bigger step up to the PL? Mental. Would rather go for Dyche and I don't want him either.
I've always liked Ralph. The squad was awful when he took over and the long contracts given to many talented but underperforming players and lack of investment meant he could move them on easily. Also I think Ralph underestimated the job on his hands at Saints and how hard the Premier League is. However, what the summer squad rebuild made it blatantly obvious, even to his biggest fans, is that he struggled to communicate his ideas to the team. The last three years you could cut him some slack but not this season. Some players were also subconsciously were waiting for him to get the sack which affected performances further. Sacking Ralph was probably the best for everybody.
I’m quite enjoying the Twitter replies. Strong “be careful what you wish for” vibes. Don’t get me wrong - it was time for Ralph to go. And I want us to get the best replacement we can. But the users on that particular platform seemed particularly vitriolic.
Jones would be quite funny in a way as all the Ralph outers on Twitter will go into another meltdown.
