I can't think of any memorable comedy shows since Harry Enfield and chums,, The Fast show or I'm Alan Partridge. To me personally, everything since then has been ****e.
I didn't know Crawford did all his stunts. Some of the funniest moments were when he was hanging from one window or another. Remember the scene where he knocks out the window cleaner and then left hanging from the rig several floors up the high rise. You're right. No way a star would be allowed to do that these days.
I hope you realise Stainesy, that the second F stands for "forever". Sorry, David Mitchell is in my head! ... HELP!!!
Good call Kiwi. Had to buy adult diapers before watching that show. Richard Ayoade was perfect as the clueless nerd, and Chris O'Dowd, well ... let's say I once saw him on The Last Leg several years ago and that was the funniest that show has ever been. Pissed as a newt (Chris, not me). I reckon he's probably acted on IT Crowd in the same disposition.
Drop the Dead Donkey Not the 9 o’clock news Morecombe and Wise Tommy Cooper Harry Enfield - Lee and lance, Tim Nice but Dim, George whitebread. Hale and Pace - hello billy, my round itis All gold. Loved Vic Reeves Big Night Out although it was polarising. We’d leave the pub before last orders to get back to the nearest flat to watch, half the group would be wetting pants, the others totally bemused… Saw Jack Dee several times and cried but couldn’t remember any jokes afterwards Smith and Jones - listen to Bitter and Twisted Billy Connolly- Ivan the terrible and visiting rome There’s plenty more great comedy but that’s off the top of my head
Don Staines, I have sinned . It was rich of me critiquing your post after spelling "father" with two Ts. Forgive me Don Staines, I WILL do better from now on. May I humbly kiss your ring my Don.
Most of these I have seen and agree with. You and others have alluded to Tommy Cooper. He was one of the greats. I'm not sure how to phrase the rest of the comment without being blase or otherwise disrespectful. Possibly one of his funniest moments was when he died on stage, literally. Well, not really funny that he died, but the audience thought it as part of the act and the poor sod died whilst watching his crowd guffawing. I guess he died doing what he loved.
Those looking for a more recent sitcom I'd put forward Derry Girls, it's funny as anything and incredibly poignant. Also if you're in 40s like me the 90s tunes it's peppered with are pure nostalgia. Other than that I guess my tastes lean a bit towards the surreal and silly - Vic n Bob, Bill Bailey Ross Noble, Mighty Boosh etc
The Don's campaign adviser. But seriously, not working at the moment. That should explain everything.
Who was asking for an explanation….was just being friendly. How’s the weather over in Sydney ? Hope not as bad as here.
If that's not rhetorical, then I'll tell you. Quite nice actually. Sunny, mid. 20's C. A lot better than in previous weeks. Still better than the foul weather in different parts of NSW (floods). I take it you guys are getting some inclement weather up there in London area. Just checked the weather in England and noticed you guys aren't doing much better WRT floods. Good luck to all those affected
Billy Connolly was a comic genius in his pomp. Gordon Kaye was a fantastic comic actor. Allo Allo was clever and very funny at times imo.
That's exactly what I felt too. He is all for free speech. Like Stainsy, it wasn't the affairs (yes strange for me to say that...but it wasnt.) it was the gagging order on his wife, with all his free speech claims. But he us so funny...especially his football stuff, and his stories about his mum.
All opinions…..I thought all 3 you mention were pretty ****e. I’m guessing Alexi Sayle and Ben Elton weren’t to your taste
