After the game yesterday, Orta shushed the crowd then started screaming ‘sack the board’ in a slightly deranged manner Fans are feeling a little disrespected by their DOF
Victor Orta caught on camera by a fan in the ground shushing the crowd and shouting "sack the board" at fans after Saturdays winning goal. He's come out and apologised saying that his personal phone number has been leaked and he has had constant abuse and texts sent to his phone the last month. He said he will try and contain his emotions in future. I don't mind it. Fans haven't exactly stuck with the club recently.
I'm very much a "if you can't take it then don't dish it out" kinda guy. He's had some flak from sections of the fan base for a while. I think it's fine to let it vent. Good on him.
Thanks for the explanation lads, bloke wears his heart on his sleeve, as do most fans. Storm in a teacup.
No. Widening the divide between the fans and the board is dumb as **** but he's passionate about what the club are trying to do. He realises that he has a heck of a lot of responsibility and I don't blame him for giving it back a bit. It shows he cares and that it matters to him. That's gotta be good for the club.
Then came out with this, this evening. “I would like to say sorry for my reaction after the game yesterday,” he said. "I don’t want to make excuses, but in the end I am human. The past few months have been very difficult for everyone at the club. I have been subjected to a lot of abuse in person, in writing and via phone calls, after my number was deliberately given out last month.” I love and respect Leeds United fans,” he said. "The atmosphere at Elland Road and across the country at every game is incomparable and has helped us to get over the line on many occasions, I thank the fan base for that. I will be sure to try to keep my emotions in check in future.” Signed
The support yesterday in the stadium wasn't great to be honest. As soon as Bounemouth scored their first it started to turn sour and as you can imagine it declined further as the goals went in. Shame I missed Victor's blow back as I'd have given him a big round of applause if I'd seen it.
Thanks for the video, a very spanish way of reacting, daft yes, can you blame him, no. He would have been better off saying ' who signed willy'.
Fair point este but that would have only been defending himself and not the board as a whole. Before Liverpool Jesse stated that the support he'd received from Orta had been amazing and he simply could not ask for more from a Director of Football.
If true we went over the top for CDK at £34m but this takes the biscuit PSV Eindhoven director Marcel Brands has said Leeds United made an offer of £30m plus £11m in bonuses for Netherlands winger Cody Gakpo, 23, last summer.
Just seen a Romano tweet on Man Utd and Gakpo. Marcel Brands says Man U never made an offer but were told €50m was the price. The price in Sterling is £44m and Leeds offer was £41m and they refused probably due to having £11m of it bonuses?
That was a very directed comment from Orta, I suspect he had been receiving abuse from the same seat for a few weeks and being human decided to return the favour. Absolutely nothing to apologise for in my opinion.
It's an emotive game, passion and tensions run high on both sides but fans do make me laugh, same as when they abuse an opposition player, they get some back and they go all precious. They were lapping it up when he got the binoculars out at Derby. Both you could say unprofessional in his position but both human traits too.
spot on. Apparently if you’ve paid for a ticket it’s your right to give tough-guy dogs abuse to anyone and everyone - but also to go all snowflake if you get any back bit like Internet forums
In hindsight whilst I think the fans have a right to express their feelings no way can I condone personal abuse on someone private phone, would be interesting to know who released his mobile No
My initial thought on first view was that he was out of order. These fans help pay your salary. Then I thought of the way the fanbase has behaved toward the club over the last 8 months or so and thought that it was fair game. There needs to be some kind of clear the air talks between the board and fans as a divided club will only go one way. The way the crowd were from 2-3 really turned the game. Bournemouth **** themselves as the sheer noise around the ground gave the Leeds players an extra yard of pace to will the ball in to the net. We need that every game and not this booing ****e at half time. Before anyone starts I'm happy for the fans to voice their concerns any which way they like. Its just I don't condone booing the team mid match. It never helps.
