Its Crook so a few kilos of salt n all that, but if we do already have the new manager ready to come in I really do think it might be Nathan Jones. Worrying times.

Have to admit I don't like all this what looks like leaking info to the press that seems to be going on.

If it's gonna be done then just do it today and put him out his misery ffs.

I simply cannot see it being Nathan Jones. Can't see SR signing off his appointment.

Some on here will be saying "I told you so".

I just hope I won't be saying "be careful what you wish for"

You know there is nobody at all on here that is enjoying our current predicament. No one seriously wants us to lose every week just to be proven right. I'd have loved it for Ralph to turn it around and make me look foolish, as would every one else of the RalphOuters. I actually think the Rinners were just as painful with their told-you-so attitude every time we got a good result.

Hopefully we can all just draw a line and get behind the new bloke, whoever he may be. We were going down with Ralph, of that I have no doubt. If another guy comes in and does just as bad, then okay, seems like the squad really is as bad as everyone believes. But I'm not going to be convinced of that just because one manager couldn't get them playing well consistently.

Agree normally, but that sounds pretty definite to me. Let's hope he's right for once and we can start trying to secure our future ASAP. Despite my man love for Ralph, change is desperately needed!

Southampton have decided to sack manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

The Premier League side have agreed to sack the Austrian either during the World Cup break or before they play their final match before the tournament, against Liverpool at Anfield next Saturday.

Southampton had wanted to wait until the break before making a decision, but could now act sooner.

A dismal 4-1 defeat by Newcastle United at St Mary’s on Sunday leaves Southampton languishing in 18th place after just three Premier League wins from their opening 14 matches.

Hasenhuttl joined Southampton in December 2018 and has consistently kept the club in the Premier League.

They finished a creditable 11th in his first full season in charge after he replaced Mark Hughes, followed by two consecutive 15th-place finishes

He did, however, oversee two humiliating 9-0 defeats during his time in charge — one in 2019 against Leicester City and the other in 2021 against Manchester United.

Southampton were in desperate need of a performance on Sunday after three home games without a victory, but were a distant second best to Newcastle throughout the game.

Romain Perraud did pull one back after efforts from Miguel Almiron, Chris Wood and Joe Willock, only for Bruno Guimaraes to immediately overshadow his consolation goal with a tremendous long-range strike.

The full-time whistle was met with a chorus of boos from those fans who remained in the stadium until the bitter end.

Hasenhuttl, who previously managed RB Leipzig, has found himself under increased pressure in recent weeks and bristled at suggestions he could lose his job last month, following a 4-0 defeat by Manchester City, which was their fourth consecutive Premier League loss.

When asked whether he feared being sacked, Hasenhuttl said: “I have taken a lot of decisions since I’m here but I don’t have to take this one.”

Pressed on whether he sees a way out of the slump, he added: “No…. Not at the moment.”

He's his own worst enemy. The club and fans have been more than patient with him and willing to give him chance after chance. But his wacky team selections and inability to find a consistent starting eleven is what has undone him in the end.
