Thought Elliott had a good 1st half but tired in the second. Firmino was knackered, the lad needs to stay off the beer. Spurs played to defensive first half which suited us. 2nd half they tore us to bits once they made their subs, luckily for us Son was injured or we could have been in real trouble. Just the Saints next week then the break and hopefully Diaz will be back for us after the break and maybe Jota. Thought today was going to be a lot harder than it turned out.
I would say that could be a turning point for us but it's really poor timing with a month break looming
We've had a number of false dawns so far this season, so I wouldn't get my hopes just yet, even without the WC on the way. Who knows how we'll be when we come back. Still have to pick our way through Saints as well.
I hear what you're saying but I think a hard battling win is a better potential 'turning point' than smashing someone. There only other one of them we've had is against Man City. It's irrelevant because the shambolic cup interrupts the season anyway
no idea how. The amount of pull backs from spurs players in first half. They were but nothing fouls in that weren’t big pulls or hard tackles, but it broke up play once we’d got wrong side of them. Only thing saved them was that were in middle of the pitch, but after the first 1 or 2 weren’t booked, def set the tone so had 2 or 3 more that went unpunished with cards.
Very annoying that refs have been told to ignore the "small fouls" and let play on. Surprisingly players are taking advantage, who would have thought that would happen!!!
Thing is he gave everyone one as a foul. Just never actually got the cards out. Same with Nunez handball, should have been a yellow but wasn’t given.
Just finished watching. Not sure why, when trying to defend the lead and coming under a barrage, why we kept kicking the ball out long to their back line so they could come at us again. Good result though. Although we've turned so many corners this season I feel like we're going in a circle. One goal up and we weren't trying to hold the ball at all. We kept just giving the ball back to Spurs the moment we had a touch.
Yeah agreed that was my initial point. By letting 1 and 2 go, set the tone that pulling players back isn’t going to be a yellow.
Thought Konate was really good today though still had one of his heart in mouth moments when he is determined to show his strength .
Because we tried to play out but kept losing it and coming under instant pressure. They booted it to get a breather giving them chance to re-organise. Very frustrating but a necessity when you're under constant pressure. Personally, I'd have left Nunez on to chase those clearances.
I said when he came off can only think he must be off cos he’s knackered as not only can he run and hold ball up. But also defending set pieces would be more useful than Salah.
He concerns me as much as Nunez. Nunez is hot head but Konate just seems to lack intelligence at times, that's worse imo
