I hope not. He's part of the same team - he might be talented, good at his job etc etc., but promoting a coach with no real managerial experience isn't the way to go right now.
I think that’s quite likely if he goes tonight, if only on an interim basis. I’m guessing the board will have a permanent replacement lined up for after the Liverpool game but they may not be available immediately. I have absolutely no evidence to back that up though.
I'd probably take Rishi Sunak at this point. (As Saints manager. Not as Prime Minister, that would be silly)
Now is the time to thank Ralph for his service and go our separate ways. Stick with Ralph and we'll go down. Appoint someone new and we may just survive.
We just need 11 more people to change their vote, and Ralph will get the sack. Come on folks, what are you waiting for?
I suppose today might have brought forward the inevitable by just a few days, but that would be it. I was already certain that he was going after next weekend anyway.
The article is a bit speculative though - what's the point in keeping him if they've decided to sack him. It then says "they *could* sack him now". I mean, I agree he needs to go, but that article seems to be trying to get a scoop that hasn't happened yet.
Why wait? Just let Selles have the Liverpool game. If Ralph is willing to pick Walcott when he's fighting to keep his job, then who the f*ck will he pick if he's feeling sour towards the board? Doesn't bear thinking about.
What you have to remember is that with the club philosophy of signing good young players cheap then selling for a big profit the manager coming in might have to be prepared to a fairly big rebuild season after season.
I’m definitely sad about Ralph going though. Was nice to have a manager with genuine affection and emotion for the club. But at this point he’s damaged goods and this had to happen. Thanks Ralph and all the best.
Thanks for all the hard work and the good times Ralph. I will never forget Spurs away in February - just epic scenes.
Even most of us Ralph outters feel sad about letting him go. He's a decent bloke who we all loved once upon a time. Its ultimately the right decision, but this is a man who has poured his life and soul into our club.
