“We gave our all to the press but never really got much back in terms of attacking output. We really mastered it in that 4-2-2-2 but once it didn’t work — we went to Burnley a few times, they figured it out and just kicked it long — we became a bit unsettled and unbalanced in games“ Redders absolutely nailing it here. Been saying this for ages. The press has turned us into an opportunist outfit, with no plan B.
When you saw the breakdown of the goals conceded he has a point about the defending. Just standing off them too much
We ought to be playing Bella-Kotchap and Caleta-Car at CB. Salisu is so rash still. Less so than last season but still a liability.
We could lose 9-0 every week and still some people would be on here like “yeah we lost again this week, but Ralph got really unlucky as it was raining pretty hard today”
Billy, this is the heart of my issue. We are all ****ed off with the ****ty form and ****ty results because we all support the same team. What I completely fail to understand is why some of us can’t accept that we all have different views on the reasons for the ****ty form. Why do we have to start saying it’s laughable when people disagree with each other? As others say, the whole point of this forum is to express opinions. I expressed my opinion that I am bored with people losing their **** over Ralph yet again. That’s my right. Nothing to do with being a mod, that’s my opinion. It’s not me laying down the policy for the forum, it’s just my opinion on an issue. OK?
I’m pissed off, I’m disappointed, I’m tired, I’ve drunk too much cheap Sauvignon Blanc, I’ve got to quarantine for a week because my daughter has covid again, I love Ralph but think we probably need a change, I can’t believe that was 4-1, I don’t think Newcastle were any better than us except they took their chances, I hate supporting Saints sometimes…
Tbf compared to a lot of other performances today was one of the better ones. Was pretty even apart from the chances taken. Their defending for the Ely and Adams chances were just as bad as ours for their goals, they just actually scored them
I never said anything about you being a Mod, no one has. You are making stuff up, i be tried to diffuse the situation and stuff, but whatever. Say what you want. But no one is saying you cant have an opinion, literally no one.
This. I accept now it's time to move on and get a new manager. But he can't cop all of the blame. It's not his fault Elyounoussi can't score from 5 yards out, or Che hits it straight at the keeper from 10 yards out like he did last week. Nor can he be blamed for our greatest shortcoming this season - scoring goals. That lies with the board. They ****ed up by not getting a PL quality forward in when they had no excuses not to. Like Brendy said last week, they cannot wait until the end of Jan to bring someone in. They have to complete a signing while we've all still got left over turkey in the fridge. But sorry Ralph, I don't see any point in dragging out what seems inevitable now, I think you should go tomorrow.
I feel that Wednesday (at home to Wednesday!) is going to be toxic if Ralph is still here. Think it's just easier for everyone if he goes tomorrow and we start trying to move forward without him, as much as it saddens me to say.
First half we restricted them and had it not been for a bad miss we would have gone in at HT 1-1, despite not having been very good going forward or with our passing. Second half we came out very positively and, maybe because we were playing more tightly together, the passing improved and we were in control. The miss by Che was made worse for me by the simple fact that he could have cushioned a pass 10 feet to his left for JWP to tap in (or hit the keeper), but either way we really should have been 2-1 up at that point. Getting caught out at the back is becoming a bit too easy at times, and in other games we have got away with it because of poor finishing. Toon’s finishing was first class and our players should be made to watch it on loop to see if they can learn from it. We are a soft touch for some players though. Woods first goal for Toon, last season against us. Bruno first goal for Toon, last season against us. Willock first goal for Arsenal and for Toon against us, then they all pop up with another each today. I think there must be players who look for us on the fixture list.
Maybe not on this thread (I haven’t read it all) but people make sideways comments about chilco and Tom being mods and controlling the discussion all the time. It was common on the Ralph specific thread. Again maybe it shouldn’t have been brought into this one but chilco clearly got pushed over the edge (again haven’t focused on every post in this thread)
They really wouldn't. As Chilcs says, I think most of us realise that it's time to change, but the seemingly gleeful picking of the bones is a bit too much "SEE I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG" and not terribly balanced.
There's some truth to this point about finishing but Sky showed various stats before the game and while we've only scored 11 goals our xG is only 12. So the finishing isn't that bad. The problem is we don't create many chances and the finishing is below par. Oh, and we have a tendency to defend badly as well. I think most of that is on the manager.
More shots, more shots on target, more possession and more corners. Generally played well but poor finishing and rash defending cost us. We may have to change the manager but regardless we need a finisher. Armstrong our best player. Good to see Lavia back. Not sure what has happened to Bella-Kotchap. Aribo was dreadful. Disappointed not to see Mara at all.
