Oh well. I’d forgotten we had another game on Tuesday, I’ll be there for that one and all will be well. Perhaps.
Shades of last season as after going briefly top we're fading away. Our squad is just too thin to sustain a challenge, One or two went missing today...
Goodnight all Player ratings as follows ****e ****e ****e ****e ****e ****e ****e ****e ****e ****e ****e ****e ****e ****e ****e And if I missed anyone out they were ****e as well
That was quite frankly awful. The ref was poor, and he's supposedly been fast tracked to the Prem? What's more worrying is no goals in our last seven halves of football.
Strange game. Beale seemed to have no plan B whatsoever. No answer to their style of play. He just couldn't cope with WBA in any way. It was clear in the first half that our setup wasn't achieving anything against theirs. But Beale stuck with it all the way through to pretty much the last 5 mins when he asked Adomah and Armstrong to change the game with only 5 mins left. After their goal, we had no response. The game didn't pick up at all. We just went out with a long 15-20 minute whimper. Mick Beale's performance today 1.5 out of 5.
From what I've heard, that's 3 ironclad penalties turned away by that feckin' ref. And yet he gives a handball against us in their box when it was kicked into the player. One way reffing in my opinion!
Still, going by the way we played, result justified. Beale had better get their heads tuned on for the Huddersfield game, or I feel another loss imminent.
Jeez we've been poor recently, what has gone wrong apart from Steff, Dunne and a few other injuries. No goals in 3 and a half games is bad bad bad. Why wait till 91st minute to bring on Arnstrong when losing 1-0 ? That's ****ing clueless. If we don't show up against Huddersfield in midweek who are truly ****e then questions need yo be asked. We really need a big response in midweek. Go 2 up top again to start with like tge 2 home games we started wuth that formation and won both !
In the car on way home. Nice to be driven by the lad for a change. Desperately trying to sat nav our way around the awful traffic (same on the way). We were pretty poor and it is a little concerning that another team have stopped us playing. Our fullbacks were kept quiet, but Laird was poor throughout. Dickie was terrible and far and away our worst centre back. The only player who looked really good was Tim. Time and again gliding past players and making challenges. He got very little support. Willock was way off it and Chair too deep, trying to get on the ball. Dykes worked hard, won headers and had a good effort well saved in the first half. West Brom were well organised, huge at the back, winning every dead ball into their box and played some good, neat football. They deserved the win and we never really looked like scoring. Slightly concerning times.
Beale's post match will be interesting, he's usually very honest about his own performance as well as the teams. Wonder if he'll admit some culpability for not making changes sooner? It's worrying that our goals (and chances) have dried up and for a team that used to dominate possession we're now seeing the reverse.
I thought the subs were strange and far too late. Albert didn't touch the ball, although he was clearly fouled in the box. Armstrong didn't get a sniff either. Should have given them much longer imo.
Started very slowly and never really got any sustained pressure on them. We look like we missed Stefan a lot, didn't see much from Amos.
Amos was Amos. Invisible and now injured again. Definitely missed Steff. Field was good and Tim classy on the ball without really creating anything.
Not at the races today, very poor & they closed us down & quicker to ball than us, we didn’t shoot when we opportunities to, disappointing performance
Some mitigation for today apart from injuries is that we played less than 72 hours after a very physically taxing game at Norwich, the pressing we did there showed up in our sluggishness today. This season, thanks to those mercenary c*nts at FIFA is going to be mercilessly compressed and we just don't have the depth of quality to sustain the challenge. Watching Sheff Utd v Burnley shows we still have some way to go to match them over 46 games...
Unable to go to day so a mate who is a neutral (Bradford fan) went so at least I didn't gave to witness that. Sounds like one of those games where even if the pen was given, we'd have missed it. Foolishly or otherwise, I've got a ticket for Coventry but hoping to see a win on Tuesday night first!! Onwards.
A ponderous, plodding performance. Just not enough pace or urgency to break down West Brom's massed defence. Albert and Arstrong should have been introduced much sooner. Field our best player.
