The culture at the club has historically been our worst enemy and over the years we have screamed for change, but I wonder if this time it will really happen? Words are all very well and good, but the follow-up actions are what count, and we have to be honest in saying that we have heard it all before. Five year plans have all gone down the drain, with little or no change, and so I am somewhat skeptical about this fine statement from Nigel Pearson being able to change what has become our status quo. The only person who can realistically change our fortunes is Steve Lansdown, but then only in conjunction with the manager of choice at any given time, and historically as we all know that credo has fallen afoul of lack of common sense. Nigel is without a doubt the most in-depth manager we have had in decades but can he get the job done where others have failed dismally to reach the targets set? I truly hope he will succeed but as yet I haven't really seen the player depth to create more than a ripple in a difficult pond and as we all know more than that will be needed to ride the wave.

I hope you're right RR, I really do. It does read a bit like an opposition political party taking power, though, "I don't want to knock others' approach", but basically, everything was wrong when he took over... I can respect he wants to manage, not coach, but I think that is a bit outdated in the modern game, the best managers are tacticians and coaches first and foremost.

it will happen and I’m pretty sure Nige has guarantees in place with SL otherwise I don’t think he would be here to see this project through.
We all want the same no matter what our views are and for me in NP I really think we have the right man to do it.
But we need to give him time and the rewards will come through.

It only matters what SL thinks. As we saw with LJ, if the manager isn’t meeting the targets set by SL he will dispense with their services, NP is no different. I think he is safe unless we are in serious relegation trouble, if that happened I am pretty sure SL would pull the trigger and rightly so. Staying in the Championship is beyond vital for us, and SL won’t and shouldn’t risk that.

Not even a loss, just team winning their game in hand drops us several places. A massive can’t lose game at Boro tomorrow

The matches we have lost at home when, in reality, we could have won or drawn, and then add those points thrown away to discover how we are where we are. All of those lost points at Ashton Gate were critical games in which we threw away 5 valuable points (and more) which at season's end could end up to be the lowering of the boom. Tomorrow's game against Middlesbrough is very critical because I believe it could shape up to be a possible glimpse into our future depending on the final result, but if we drop further towards the basement I have this feeling that the dynamics will change in quite a different direction to what we have on show recently, and indeed for most of NP's tenure. Steve Lansdown must surely be edging towards making big changes, and I can't see the transfer wallet opening too much, and surely something, or somebody, has to change.
