This will be the night thread for live up to the minute discussion for a fascinating, if not quite a classic, 2011 Breeders Cup.

I am honouring RV's selections from the opening post on the Daily Thread <ok>

    RV's selections:

    8.10 Secret Circle - EVENS
    - Has looked very impressive in two starts so far and everyone seems to think this is going to be a superstar sprinter. Evens seems a fair price after reading the form guides he shouldn't be getting beat.

8.50 UP -10-1 E.W - A decent race this for which Elusive Kate currently heads the market for John Gosden. She won the Marcel Boussac in good style to win her 4th race in a row. She looks good and sets a decent standard but I am a big fan of UP, she has a lot to do on the form book but I don't believe O'Brien would send her here without thinking she has leading claims. She travelled like the best filly in the race on debut at the Curragh but weakened right out of things to finish only 11th suggesting she needed the run. She then went on to land a massive gamble at Dundalk last time out and I am hopeful she has the improvement needed to run a big race here.

10.10 MY MISS AURELIA 5-2 - Don't know a lot about every contender in this race but have seen some replays and My Miss Aurelia looked a beast when smashing the field in the Frizette Stakes. That is good form and she could be hard to beat here.

10.50 MISTY FOR ME 9/1 NAP - I am really confident that Misty For Me will win tomorrow I do rate the first four in the betting, but I honestly think this filly is special on her day and she has been given time to freshen up following a below par run in the Matron stakes last time out. That was over 1m which may well have been to short. I think the BC has been the target for some time and I will be disappointed if she isn't right there at the finish.

11.30 IT'S TRICKY 7/1 - I am going for a bit of value in this race with It's Tricky as a line through the current fav Plum Pretty, she smashed the selection by 7 lengths last time out but had a good run all the way around. It's Tricky on the other hand was bumped badly before staying on well without ever threatening the winner. This Godolphin owned 3yo filly had previously beaten the fav back in July. Royal Delta has also had the better of the selction in the past and must enter calculations but I do feel if It's Tricky runs up to her best she should go close tomorrow.

Have a good evening to anyone who has a play! <cheers>

    10.50: CAMBINA 25/1 e.w
Clearly it is a high quality renewal and the European horses are the star attractions here behind the now US-based favourite, Stacelita. For me though, the front 3 in the market areal much of a muchness- I’m finding it hard to separate any of them and I think all are vulnerable.

Cambina was based in Ireland last year, ran well in maidens and in a couple of good handicaps that have produced 104-rated horses. Her 2 year old form would have her nowhere near the standard required here, but I believe she is a much better horse this season, and had always shaped like a step up in trip was the answer.

She has been campaigned over 8, 9 and 10f this season, dead-heating a Grade 1 at Hollywood Park (would have been clear winner but for being hampered and snatched up 1f out) , stayed on best of all behind Summer Soiree next time, and got within 2 lengths of Dubawi Heights in another Grade 1 in what was not a truly run race.
The reason I have hope she can make the frame in this talented bunch is that this is over 11f, and she is absolutely screaming out for this extra furlong. More importantly however, this should go at a pretty good gallop with plenty of pace in the race. Misty For Me has a poor draw so might be rousted along to get to the front, and that might set her alight a little bit to run this at a decent clip. Dubawi Heights loves being on the speed too, and Misty For Me would have to kick quite early to see off that rival, meaning we should have a real test coming around the home turn. Cambina will need to close up as they approach the bend but if she can, I think she has real place possibilities.

Jeff Blonde has targeted the Breeders Cup ever since that dead-heat Grade 1 win, and the booking of Garrett Gomez is eye catching, as I really rate him.

RV....Interesting that Misty For Me is your nap. I would be concerned by the track with her, there is no doubt she's classy, but she's flopped on both occasions, she's been asked to go left handed, at Epsom and Leopardstown. Where as right handed she has been very impressive, particularly at the Curragh. If there is a problem going left handed for her, then Churchill Downs is arguably the worst possible course she could be tackling, it's as tight as Chester.

I don't bet in America anyways, so il quite happily cheer her on for you, but aren't you worried by her form left handed?

Just killing some time before the first race and seen the comment on the BC fav moments thread about the greyhound Scurlogue Champ - some amazing footage of him on youtube, always came from a mile back with a wet sail <ok>

    8.50: PURE GOSSIP 12/1 (NAP)

There was something about this filly when I saw her Grade 3 win that screamed class. This is a big step up and could look a silly bet, but she had all the hallmarks of a progressive type when winning by almost 6 lengths. She stalked them on the bridle, was brave enough to quicken through a gap, and then really lengthened to put the race to bed.

She is related to a lot of classy types and I thought she looked the standout value bet of the entire Friday card. Whatever happens today, I will monitor her progress and stay on the right side of her.

She looked like she had so much in the tank and the step up in trip absolutely worked for her. Should stay this really strongly.

Amazing run from Shumoos - did she just stay on though? Suicidal early pace

    Good evening boys and girls.

That Secret Circle looks as fast as hell. Shumoos finishing like a train but from too far back. Couldn't go the pace early doors.

    Great start RV and Oddy!

If Shumoos can get that close you would think our top 2 year olds would beat the winner.

I wouldnt necessarily say that TP.Shumoos took the dirt very well and the winner looks a very good horse despite the suicidal early pace and the obvious greeness.

Great effort from Shumoos, the pace of the race must have been totally alien to her but she very nearly nicked it. Toppy I just think any of the top European 2YOs would have struggled to go that early pace - it was almost like Frankel in the guineas. The winner looks a very good horse and if he strengthens from 2 to 3 we may even see him at Royal Ascot??

Elusive Kate ran very flat. The one i would take out of the race would be UP.Had a bit of nightmare on the straight and got going a bit too late when the winner had flown.
