You know as well as anyone that a deal isn't done until signatures on a contract. I've had people ITK tell me things over the years that were "done" only for last min snags to scupper the deal. If Stewart goes, he goes. We'll take a massive profit and move on
TC I agree, but there's no smoke without fire, or a flicker of flame, this agent gets a lot out of our club and has 2 players in the club
If Stewart goes he is worth 15-20 million Simms is worth 1 million. I couldn't give a **** that Stewart hasn't even had a decent run in the championship yet and was league 1 last season, he is worth that to us. Everything suffers without him. But teams from the premier league aren't sniffing around for nothing he could easily step up! He needs convincing to sign a contract to get us a bigger deal and see the season out to get his injury gone. If he carries on like he was before injury he will have more clubs after him!
No way is Simms worth 30% of Stewart, so if them figures are true they overpricing Simms or underpricing Stewart. Imo they are doing both!
No way we get £15m for Stewart with just 18 months on his deal. Maybe if he’d kept scoring this season but the injury kerplunked that. If he’s asking to leave and wants to leave then the club might need to be realistic as that fee is only going to get less with each window
I think £12m seems about right it he went in January. I'd like to think we hold on until the summer. Even if we only get £9-10m at that point, consolidation in the Championship and a more appropriate time to source new talent would be worth losing the cash on his value.
If he's actively looking to leave, then I'd sell him on 1st Jan for as much money as we can. IF (as I suspect) he's happy enough here but wants a) a big wage rise and b) to play in the PL then I'd try to do a deal with the likes of Everton to agree a fee for the end of the season and keep all parties happy.
