Because when the tech works its 100% factual because the line is static and the the cameras are static in the correct place to make the call.

There is no guesstimate which is the case in offside calls using VAR

I don’t mind using technology but the long waits and the marginal decisions are ruining the spectacle, at least that way would clear things up because it would be easier than now

Well they should certainly take into account any imprecision in the measurement but I doubt it is as large as you are suggesting by the word guesstimate. But for all we know they already draw the lines to be as favourable to the attacking player as possible....because that is what they should be doing. Eg since the ball will have been kicked slightly before or after the frame you should chose the frame which is most advantageous to the forward.

If it takes 2-4 minutes to make a call on an offside then it is a system not fit for purpose imho.

Line decisions are by definition marginal....there is simply no way to write the Law so they are not. Unless you are going to leave it to the Referee's discretion which would be worse.
And the long waits are not due to line decisions they are when something complex happens like last Wednesday when they have to judge whether a player handled the ball or played the ball intentionally. In that case the onfield call isn't even made because if Kane wasn't offside it was irrelevant whether the defender touched it or not.

The Kane goal last week is a good example. They could have disallowed the goal in 30s because Kane was clearly offside. But they needed extra time to judge whether the defender played the ball deliberately or committed a handball offence.

I've lost count of the number of times I have seen it take at least 2 minutes to make a straight forward decision.

Spurs v Leicester at their place, Sheffield United at our place, spring to mind.

My point is that these "goals" were never disputed pre VAR because virtually everyone agreed that the benefit of the doubt should go to the attacking team.

The only issue were the clear and obvious mistakes where goals were clearly offside being given and clearly onside goals being ruled out.

This system doesn't work for me but have enjoyed the debate <cheers>

But if the rule is changed to what I said, then it’s less marginal and should speed up the time needed to check.

    In theory anyway <laugh>

It's repeated every time the FA Cup comes around, so lots will remember it. Absolute mud bath, did well to dig it out, let alone put it in the top corner. Not a bad moment to leave behind.

He hit it from 35 yards out at a speed of 62.9mph on a bog of a pitch. One of the memorable FAC goals of all time and one of the biggest upsets of all time. Hereford play Portsmouth this weekend, how fitting it would be if they did another giant killing in memory of Ronnie Radford.

Man Utd fail to win by two goals or more against Sociedad, so they enter a play-off.
They'll face one of the following sides:
    • Ajax
    • Barcelona
    • Bayer Leverkusen
    • Juventus
    • RB Salzburg
    • Sevilla
    • Shakhtar Donetsk
    • Sporting Lisbon
Plenty of big names, but a lot of them are playing extremely poorly this season.

so they need 3 minutes plus to read the players mind?

    We’ve all watched Star Wars

3 minutes is a long time when reading minds and could prove costly
