I would like to think not Goldie, and genuinely, if you can point me to a policy of “open borders” being spoken of officially by the Labour Party, I’d be very interested. I would suggest the only people who think open borders are a great idea are the Neo-Liberal middle class who need someone to make their coffee at Pret, look after their kids and to clean their toilet.
Even if they did, it’s a myth that the whole world wants to come here, perpetuated by right wing idiots. We have a low rate of asylum applications relative to our peers.
They don't have a policy, full stop. It's a crisis now, but I cannot see anyway it won't get worse under Labour. They've said they'll open up centres overseas to vet asylum seekers, and they expect anyone who fails or who doesn't bother to apply because they know they'll fail, not to pay organised crime and take a boat over the Channel. Of course they will
So they haven’t got an “open border” policy then, and your original post was purely for effect…..fair enough
It's open border because they won't send anyone back. At least the Tories are attempting to, but are facing hords of human rights lawyers applying for injunctions and appeals right up to the European Court of Human Rights. Sunak must know that if he doesn't solve this issue with radical steps, the Tories will be routed at the next GE, and it will give parties like Reform a huge boost of voters
Again, if you can point me to the official Labour policy that states they “won’t send anyone back”…then I’d be genuinely interested…..until then I can only surmise that it’s right wing rhetoric.
No, if they were going to send people out of the country, they would state it. They're against the Rwanda plan but put nothing in its place
As much as Tories like to push the “we are full” rhetoric, we clearly aren’t and have an ageing indigenous population along with thousands of unoccupied residences around the country along with a load of NIMBYs stopping affordable housing being built.
We haven’t got the infrastructure in place…..and you really do know that. With the lack of investment for years under Tory rule in housing, schools, GPs etc…….areas cannot cope.
Yeah we had years to build it and borrow at next to no interest. Doesn’t mean it’s too late and boomer population relative to the working population is only going to worsen.
So now you agree we haven’t got the infrastructure in place ? Sadly I think it will take a generation to put it right…..and we’ve left it far too late.
You sound very sure, so tell me what Labour's policy is, beyond overseas vetting centres and hoping illegals will respect them and give up taking to the dinghies
It doesn’t work like that Goldie….you stated something that you now can’t back up. If you can then fair enough…..I’ll keep watching
How can I prove a negative? If they haven't got a policy, how do you expect me to prove something that's not there!
Your right wing rhetoric may work with Baz and John down the pub Goldie, to my eternal shame it worked on me all those years ago…..however thankfully I’ve grown up and see it for what it is. So I’ll keep on waiting for you to point me to the policy that does or doesn’t exist (as stated in your original post)
