I think de Bruyne fractured his eye socket just a few weeks before the Euros and still played, so I’m hoping there’s a chance for Son. Although perhaps the selfish side of me would rather he didn’t play, had a few weeks recovery and then be relatively fresh for the season restart, Kane and Richarlison are likely to play a fair bit at the World Cup, so having Son and Kulu in a better condition will be good for us.
Yeah I couldn’t care less about anyone of Spurs players missing the World Cup, I’d rather they all missed it or not selected and came back fresh etc. Except Kane for England, I hope he wins the golden boot and England have a good tournament (unlikely this time though)
Yes, best not them write it on House of the Dragon Depends if anyone passes to him. Seem to remember criticism of him at the start of the Euros when nobody was actually giving him the ball. Would also help if [here I go again] undroppable Sterling actually set him up occasionally. As it is I'm not sure Sterling had assisted Kane much at all, which is quite damning considering how many times they've played together (actually I can't think of a single time, though there must have been some).
Assist king already and he’s still not quite 100% yet. Hiring Vio alongside his signing has been a great move from the club too, top tier crosser/ set piece taker alongside a set piece specialist coach has been huge this season for us. We’d be about 7-9 points worse off I think without them.
Not seen any Spurs goal from a corner kick this season that is notable for anything other than the actual quality of the crosses. He may have been coaching Son to be more accurate, but as Eriksen is no longer at Spurs I cannot test that thesis.
I think in terms of set piece takers, it’s probably not something that can be coached, players either have it or they don’t, it’s why there’s very few about. Son doesn’t really have it but he’s been the best bet in between Eriksen’s departure and Perisic’s arrival. As for actual set piece routines, I’d imagine it’s down to movement, positioning, where the ball will be aiming for plus particular bits of play from free kicks or corners that can give Spurs an advantage. I’d be surprised if it’s just a coincidence that since Vio’s and Perisic’s arrivals we’ve been extremely positive from attacking set pieces.
