Ironic isn’t it that we score from our first corner this season but concede from two:emoticon-0138-think

Some nice touches here and there but never put Watford under any concerted pressure.

Our play again in the opposition third was underwhelming, and lacked that cutting edge and quality. Too many times a city player takes that extra touch or pass.

Etete is like a fish out of water. Him and Watters need to go out on loan and be replaced in January.

It's a little bit of deja vu really, as it was almost back to the early season issues of being out-jumped and out-muscled for a lot of the game and it was certainly yet another one where it highlighted our reliance on Robinson.

Watters or Etete didn't really have enough time to do anything last night but I get where you are coming from. We really do need another slightly higher calibre/more experienced front man I reckon.

Not sure whether I'd bomb both Etete and Watters out.... personally I think Etete has the atributes, it's more about building the stamina etc. and getting some game time to build him up. Watters, I suspect (and as many of us do), may just be finding this division is a leap too far sadly. He may work in a 2 up front, in a big man/little man combo but we're just not going to be that kind of team any more (apart from instances like last night where Kipre stayed up front in the dying moments)...

well, I'm sorry lads, but there didn't seem to be much softening up going on last night.
Those big buggers got two decent headers in didn't they?

Can't see us getting much out of them either on Sat.

Had time to digest that lot and am not going to talk about the game itself in detail - just a few general comments as a result. I knew Watford would be a tough game but they weren't brilliant - they just did what they had to do and we lost control of the game.

I'd suggest there's a huge degree of naivity from the boardroom down through the management team and even the players that comes across in a game like that last night. We've got too many shortcomings on and off the pitch to fend off sides like this and I don't belive there's the structure in place at the club to change it.

Banging the drum again maybe, but impassioned pre and post match interviews with players and manager aren't enough. What we deliver on the pitch is the only thing that matters and we are now back at the point where the talk of survival is replacing ambition.

I'm not an idiot and I realise the financial constraints that apply, I know work is being done in the background with the academy and youth set up and that's to be applauded. I'm just despairing at the lack of positivity from the club regarding first team afairs in anything other than pretty bland media interviews.

It is what it is, and if the addition of a new first team coach is the best the club can come up with to substantially improve matters then he'd better be a world beater.
