Animal Kingdom is in Prime certainly worth a watch for that miss level quality TV show that you can switch off to. 7 seasons all on there and it's finished.
The Devil Hour (Amazon) 7/10 The last 2 episodes really bring it together with an interesting concept, Capaldi is good, the Kid is excellent
I really enjoyed Animal Kingdom. Currently rewatching... 'Watching' on YouTube a lot of the outside stuff filmed over here near me.
Anyone watching SAS: Rogue Heroes on BBC One? A re-telling of how the SAS was formed in North Africa during WW2, based on the non-fiction book by Ben McIntyre. Only watched the first episode so far, but seems pretty decent. I've read the book, so know the background. Can definitely recommend it so far.
Got about half way through first episode Amazon's new "big deal", the peripheral. Fell asleep. Boring.
No but I've watched many a documentary on the topic. It's is a dramatised version or a commentary Cos frankly they'd struggle to find people to play sterling and maine as characters and for them to be in any way believable.
the forgotten army was the 14th Army the Chindits were a long range penetration force (in the same way as the origins of the SAS ) led by a ****ing lunatic which were really pretty pointless in strategic terms though may well make good tele .
Yer mainly right they achieved little in terms of the war in both of their expeditions.Brave fellas in absolutely horrific conditions.Lessons were learnt about jungle warfare but yer right about Orde Wingate loved by most of his men but deffo a bit bonkers, including eating raw onions like an apple.Would be bloody good telly though.
bit of a cult round Wingate but he was seriously unhinged . Plus his behaviour in Palestine where he seemed more on the side of the Zionist groups than his own comrades in the British Army stationed there were probably worthy of a court martial and his order of floggings as a punishment in the Chindit formations did lead to a number of court martials after the war .
Going to watch The Great Debaters tonight, recorded it from Film 4 the other day and I've never seen it.
Have you never watched Rogue One? Andor is excellent imo. Doesn't matter which order you watch it bcos it's series 1 of Andor and nowhere near the beginning of Rogue One. There's definitely a 2nd series which will take it closer.
