We only play at it and its tough enough. Having your livelihood depending on it. I've said before, fuel, fertiliser and feed have put farmers on the back foot. Throw in reduced crops / grazing because of drought and it is very difficult. A local farmer I know grows his own produce for their farm shop. Crops much reduced this year. A dairy farmer we know has been using winter feed for cows in late summer because the grass wasnt growing. Then one extreme to the other, fields are suddenly so wet they cant plant their winter crops. Bird flu is just another challenge for British farmers. Worrying times for many.
The following sounds very lame after Remote's troubles but it is away from football. Back in Portugal again so miss tonight and next 2 home games. Hope BT and Mike (see another thread) find a good home for my ST. Incredible hotel half way up Monchique mountain. Mrs. BfB found it at a ridiculously low price on the interweby thingy. It's on 11 levels built into the mountain. The hotel not Mrs. BfB. And we've walked them all, down and up this morning. You've heard of Heart Break Hotel? This is Heart. Attack Hotel. Yes we could have used the lifts but wanted some exercise. Gym not needed today. Outdoor pool, unheated, next.
My troubles are minor BfB, other than Ive just found a cow out of the shed and wandering. Going to take a couple of us to get it back in without letting a load more out. For me the trials and tribulations are experience, learning. Not going to lose the shirt off my back. For many, it will put strain on their businesses. Sounds like you've found a good destination. Enjoy.
Been a busy day for Mrs Brizzle and I. After I finished the match thread earlier (don't tell my boss (no, not Mrs B, my work boss) but I utilised some work time so I could get it done early) we dashed off to do another 3 hours on the Poppy stall and then from there we drove down to Devon. Now in the family caravan for the weekend. I did however try to do my best impression of Remote whilst up at Cribbs Causeway again when we'd done our fundraising stint. Bloody big sheep to round up in that there West Country!
Farming is being attacked around the globe in various ways......and im telling you I'm not fking eating bill Gates bugs that's for sure............keep up thy good work remote hopefully things will turn around and that locally sourced foods becomes bigger than imports and please organic only will help our health recovery for our children in the process
Today I will be mostly watching egg. Just watched the 2nd half of France v NZ in the women's WC. Great 40 minutes of sport. Could have gone either way to the final minute. The only non-negotiable for watching live today is at 15.15 when Wales play NZ in Cardiff. Might watch the Ireland v SA as well. Can stream the rest in the next couple days if they look interesting. Hopefully catch highlights of Eng v PNG and NZ v Fiji in the 13 man game.
I've set up a TV in the bathroom in order to catch up on the Wheelchair competition. It means I can watch the WC WC on the WC
After my mercy dash to Mam's at the end of September she's all healed and been hankering to get home. Got her a big shop in yesterday and drove down this afternoon. Usually a 3 and a quarter hour trip give or take. Took 4 hours today. Bad timing as I arrived at Pontypridd at rush hour. Getting through is usually a 5 minute trip, which took over 45 mins today. Get her settled, catch up with an old school friend in the morning, then home. Rivers and lakes looking a bit healthier than just over a month ago. The Welsh Dee, Severn, Wye, Usk and Taff all well up the banks. The three Taff Fawr reservoirs which were very depleated when I last passed are already full. Currently sat just a few miles from Tylorstown. Should pop up to the Welfare Hall for the big announcement. Or I could sit here and have a beer.
Thanks clingo. I've got another 14 hours before I head home and treatment can begin. Until then the torture continues. Oh and it'll resume in 5 weeks when she comes back up for Christmas.
I get home by driving through the middle of Wales, so it'll take about 2.5 hours driving to cross into Ingerlund, so 16.5 hours. Oh, and I'm expecting a sainthood.
I'm watching the women's Rugby League. Bashing into each other, accidental feet and elbows in faces and absolutely no histrionics. Are you watching £100,000 a week footballers?
Me to. No holds barred. I'd put either of these teams against a team of footballers. The blokes would be carried off.
Let's face it, the blokes would be feigning injury in the tunnel so that they wouldn't have to go on. I was expecting Ingurland to be a bit more wooden given their sponsors.
