I would be checking my harnesses if I was him. Hopefully he doesn’t and the last we see of him is disappearing into a ravine.

Time to sack the lot and let the civil servants do the job.

I'm very suspicious of the civil service tbh. Cummings may have been wrong about a lot of things, but wanting to look at them more closely wasn't one of them if you ask me.
If I had to put money on it I'd say there will be hundreds if not thousands of them who send a couple of stalling emails a day and do very little else. That's before we get to the idea that they get to decide to work on policy based on whether they agree with it or not.

He probably thinks he's going to to rehabilitate his image going in there. I don't think he's got enough character or charm to do that tbh. He's a bit of a weirdo. Plus he's not going to spill any interesting political beans while there's a chance he could get back into favour.

He'll be lucky not to get a punch in the face in the first ten minutes. Boy George would be my guess. This is someone who, rightly or wrongly, is seen as a major factor in people's deaths during the pandemic. Not Boy George, Hancock.

I believe I have been on it for some time:evil:

And I have learned to live with it.
But I follow his posts see if he can teach me anything.
And I willingly acknowledge that sometimes he has a point.

I am confused. Nothing much new there I suppose...

I was reading this morning that we have a £50bn black hole thanks to Truss mini budget. This was in a newspaper once viewed as trustworthy and sensible. When I read I thought to myself how can this be right? 2 weeks ago I read it was £70bn, but that is probably by the by. I couldnt quite get my head around why the mini budget costs £50bn and I didnt really believe the headline.

2 years ago Sunak told us we would likely end up with £40bn shortfall as a result of covid. Seemed reasonable bearing in mind we spent £70bn on furlough and tax incomes for government would be massively reduced. We knew we had a big bill coming. Then on top of this we had Putin creating continent wide inflationary pressures, driven by soaring fuel costs. So the govt commit to a variety of cost of living payments and fuel payments to help people. These too cost billions, and are just about the last thing standing from the mini budget.

So with these support packages for people we knew there would be a reckoning in terms of paying the bill. I appreciate the government have done some things such as the windfall tax on energy companies. I can see why it perhaps isnt the £70bn therefore mentioned. Why though do I read it is all down to the mini budget? I know it was a really stupid budget, but how has it been the only thing to cause this bill we need to pay?

Is it all down to increased cost of borrowing to the government as a result? I had thought the markets had calmed somewhat and that these things would right themselves if the fiscal plan was judged sound.

All this is written not to defend anybody. It is a genuine question? Are the media right and it is all down to the mini budget, or are they plain old wrong?

Puts our issues into perspective I think. At least people are getting here alive for the most part, the odd obliteration by an oil tanker or cargo ship aside (if you want to clutch your pearls over this comment, consider that this actually happened and the overwhelming reaction was not that it had to be stopped, everyone just shrugged their shoulders and said 'keep 'em coming')

Looks like Hancock's finished his career, so we might get some juicy gossip after all. If he lasts a night, the big girl's blouse.

I wont believe a single word that comes out of his mouth. I think he has badly misjduged this, and possibly ITV too. The backlash against him appearing is growing. He might just find himself out of a job, and off the tele.

What is it with these people who want to be PM but don't think they should follow the same rules they impose on the rest of us <doh>

"Security minister Tom Tugendhat could face a driving ban after he was caught using his mobile phone at the wheel.

Mr Tugendhat, who stood for the Tory leadership after Boris Johnson stepped down, apologised after he was stopped by police in Wandsworth on 4 April."

" He was appointed to the Home Office role by Liz Truss and retained by Rishi Sunak."

First Rule of Politics for any person ELECTED to any Office, however low or high.

    THOU SHALT NOT GET CAUGHT.

IF The Government really believes in this Law, then they should highlight just how much, by sacking him.

As for appointing him to a post in The Home Office, it's no better that Boris and his social life during 'lockdown'.
