Millebosc looks interesting dropping into handicap at Redcar for the inform Haggas and the softer the better looking at some previous runs . 5/2 looks very fair

Gold Trip wins the Melbourne Cup impressively.. Only his 2nd victory but his form was highly commendable. As a 3yo he won a G2 with In Swoop 3rd, was 4th in the Arc and 3rd in the Grand Prix de Paris. As a 4yo he was 2nd in the Ganay and 3rd in the Grand Prix de Paris. There must have been some reason he was top weight.

I was put off by his sire Outstrip as he was a very good 2yo, but a miler at best. He stood as a stallion at Darley but was sold at the end of 2021: to Brazil!! A year later and an Australian syndicate would probably have paid a lot of money.

Unusual for me, but I completely forgot about the MC this year. Good job too, as I would never have selected Gold Trip (for the same reason as you, i.e. being by Outstrip). In the end, winner saw it out very gamely indeed. Also, never heard of the winning jockey! <whistle> :emoticon-0100-smile :bandit:

Cracking little novice chase at Warwick. Stage Star and West Cork were both in the 140s over hurdles - West Cork famously hosing up in the Greatwood after a 19 month break and holding his form well thereafter without getting his head in front. Skytastic hadn't reached the same level of hurdles but was going well in a Grade 1 at Aintree before clouting the 3rd last and fading badly (possibly didn't stay). Stage Star was Paul Nicholls second successive Challow Hurdle winner and the trainer will be hoping he takes to fences like his predecessor has. He is certainly the one for money and has been backed from 6/4 this morning to around 4/5.

Sam Thomas holds Skytastic in high regard and I think he could spring a minor surprise.

In the Class-5 Selling Stakes at Redcar (13:55) over a distance a hair short of 1m, will take a chance with the Adaay gelding, Freddy Robinson, (Damsire: Indian Ridge). Based on sire's breeding and liking for heavy ground conditions maybe selection can give Bashful a run for his money? Aptly-named Ben Robinson rides for the Brian Ellison yard.
Around 10/3 best price at time of writing.

Shocking mistake at the 2nd fence and he was always on the back foot after that. Took half the fence with him too - had to be bypassed on the next circuit.

Gave it a darn good crack, but just couldn't get to winner Bashful. Have to have another look at race but FR seemed to get a bit 'annoyed' with winner a furlong or so out? Strange.

Well, winner did get very close to FR, who seemed to 'snap' at Bashful. No way could Bashful get disqualified, not in the UK, anyway!
