Yeah some horrendous sewage overspills down here atm Piss take really as we pay some of the highest water bills in the UK to south west water. I don't mind paying the extra, but the surcharge was supposed to pay for a massive infrastructure project called clean sweep which was completed some years ago (although we're still paying for it) and clearly it still don't work
There are CSO's all over Britain, for this very thing. When we get a months' worth of rain in a couple of days, like instances over the last couple of weeks, the storm sewers fill up and ultimately it gets dumped in rivers and the sea, otherwise the infrastructure can't cope and it can back up into people houses. There is not the pipe size or capacity in Britain to cope with or store this. Every single new development now has to have attenuation built into it, this wasn't the case previously. Because this is brown, doesn't neccessarily mean it's actual ****.
