I see the EU inflation rate has hit 10.7%. A record high. Higher than ours. The Fed also looking to another interest rate hike to throttle price growth. Seems like some of our economic challenges are shared.
Let me get this right, are you saying Labour would let in 970 out of every 1000 from these countries stay here, or 97% of the population of these countries can move here if they want, and you are happy with this.
So basically you are saying Labour would allow 97% of these 3 countries to come and live here, that’s roughly 60,000,000 people. No need to wonder why Labour will struggle to get re-elected when that news comes out.
I think it's everyone's view. It's not everyone's job to solve the problem though. It's the government's, and it's the opposition's job to provide an alternative.
It isn't 97% of the total population Rooch, it's 97% of people from those countries who seek Asylum. The letter has nothing to do with the Labour party it is an open letter from 110 refugee charity’s
No it isn't, it's the oppositions job to challenge the government on poor decisions and that is what they are doing.
I realise that mate, and I know it’s just figures, but the figures say that if 97% of that country wanted to claim asylum we should let them in, or am I reading it wrong?
Not being able to provide an alternative means any challenging can easily be dismissed. Anyone can whinge.
Again you fail to grasp what the purpose of the Opposition is: "The role of the Official Opposition is to question and scrutinise the work of the Government" In a democracy, you can't have all parties chucking policies into the mix, it would become meaningless. The government is there to govern the opposition is there to challenge. All parties can and do provide alternatives, it's called a manifesto and is produced at election time.
She is making a statement in the commons at 17.15, probably be looking at resigning on Wednesday and have a new Home Secretary by Friday. Reminds me of that (****) Craig David song.
I wasn’t disputing what Monty was saying, I was just saying under those rules if 97% of the population from Afghanistan decided to claim asylum we would be obliged to let them in.
And if they want an election now, they should be producing policies now and putting them out there. To be challenged and scrutinized. At the minute it looks like all Labour do is say 'we wouldn't do it like that', and then refuse to elaborate when asked how they would do it. That's not questioning and scrutinizing, it's lazy whingeing.
It's a letter from 110 charities stating the figures, stop trying to blame Labour for the ****-show we are now in
