Now he's out. Drop him. He's either got to be there at the end or score at a quicker rate. He's done neither.

If England don't get back on Malan can take the blame for this loss. Eating up balls then getting out meaning we're below DLS par score.

I think Buttler 0 and Hales 7 can take some of the blame.

Some but at least they didn't waste 40 odd balls. Malan didn't score quickly enough then got out just before the rain meaning the DLS par score goes up. 35 off 37 balls just isn't good enough for a number 3.

Ireland win. That's two really poor batting performances in a row. Got away with it last time. Not today. Salt in for Malan going forward.

And why did Livingstone come in so low when there was rain around? Really poor from England. Buttler needs to get a grip as captain with these decisions.

Even if England decide to give Malan another chance there has to be a shake up of the batting order. Livingstone in at 3, Stokes can be the finisher. There is no way in hell Livingstone should be 7 in the batting order.

I would drop Hales before Malan. His S/R at international t20 is lower than Malan and so is his average score. I seem to recall that his fielding in recent games hasn’t been great either.
Everyone struggled to middle the ball today and their timing of the ball was very poor. Malan struggled as well but he kept his wicket intact for long enough to actually keep us in the game.
As you say in one of your other posts, the batting order needs to be looked at, especially when there is a chance of rain ending the game early.
I posted yesterday that the weather forecast was dismal and that the result could be decided by it. Unfortunately I was right, for once.

Yeah, I would have no complaints if Hales was dropped. Either way Salt deserves a chance.

Weather forecast for Brisbane, tomorrow, looks dreadful. Very high percentage chance of rain most of the day, according to the BBC website, petering out in the evening. Could potentially ruin the England v Kiwis game.

Looks ok for the England game. The early game (Afganistan v Sri Lanka) may be affected though.

I was baffled when I kept seeing all the stories about bad weather in the late spring in Australia

But of course there have been stories of crazy weather in Australia for years now. And I went to Queensland around about this time of year and on one of the stops (two hours north of Brisbane) it was torrential rain for pretty much 3 days straight. I think I ended up watching murder on the orient express in the cinema! It was ridiculous

Well, good to see Ireland not fold from 25-5. England's NRR will be better than Australia's going into tomorrow's match.

I think much will depend on the condition of the outfield and any follow on showers, which the BBC website indicates (3 raindrops) could be quite heavy.
Is it 6pm local time we start, or a bit later?

edit Not literally 3 raindrops, before some smartarse says anything, but if the website just showed 1 it would indicate light rain.

Rain is scheduled to stop between 3 and 4pm local time, with a start time of 6pm. That's plenty of time to mop up. Even if a few overs are lost therer should be a result.

Good platform here for England. Just don't send Malan in at 3.

Timed that awfully. Finished my morning meeting and put the cricket on to see we have started well and have lost no wickets at the halfway stage... queue my first delivery and a wicket

Why is Malan in at 3? Send in Livingstone or Stokes FFS.

Edit: my bad, they've promoted Moeen.
