He moved out years ago and is unlikely to return to clear out the garage, though our other classic seems to have found a permanent home in his garage (to be fair, it was him that picked it in the first place)
My current car is a Ford Focus Titanium 1.0 Ecoboost MHEV 125bho. At this time of year I have my heated seat on, aircon, radio, so plenty of electrics in use, I literally drive from Hedon to Hessle and return five days a week, I stick it on cruise wherever possible, it’s currently returning 52mpg. Not too shabby.
The cost to replace batteries on a 10 year old Tesla S worth about £25-30,k is around £18-23,000 you may as well scrap the car, because it’s not going to be worth £40k after replacement, and that is the big problem with electric cars, the batteries are usually ****ed after 10 years and the cost of replacement outweighs the cost. The car is perfectly fine, but unless the replacement battery cost is reasonable I wouldn’t buy one, and given the cost of charging they aren’t much more economical than petrol
Some manufacturers offer battery leasing options to overcome the problem of worn out batteries in a decent car. I've not looked into the costs involved but it is something which should be factored into the decision.
Fully agree with this. Don’t know how true it is, and can’t be bothered to look into it, but someone told me that on Tesla’s when they change the battery that they have to change the full chassis as it’s built into that. If that’s the case it appears to be poor design, or that they really want you to scrap the full car at that point, which I’m guessing most owners will do.

I guess banning the sale of combustion engine cars could definitely be construed as encouraging you to go electric , can't see it actually happening in 2030 though
It's supposed to, its retro styling was it's appeal (it was inspired by the Gutbrod Superior, produced in Germany in the early 50's).
And footballers (Thomas Vermaelen has one) and rock stars (Eric Clapton was one of the first people to import one from Japan)...
My niece had one, she loved the look of it but it was totally unreliable, something broke almost every 3rd or 4th time out.
