Yeah could be right. The Bellingham thing is clearly true but again will he choose another club and who else are we targeting of he does?
We wanted Tchouameni, but he wanted Madrid. Next season we won't even have CL to tempt anyone here. So anyone wanting trophies (City and Madrid), money (United and Newcastle) or London (Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs) will have us way, way down their list, especially as FSG will want them as cheap as they can, and on less wages than other teams would offer.
1) the season's not finished so who knows whether we'll have CL or not 2) we were 14pts behind last season and we looked shot then too 3) the VVD injury season was far worse for us, we still hit top four 4) we've not had CL before but managed to attract players 5) clubs have outspent us for a long time, it's not a new development 6) FSG aren't afraid to spend when necessarily, they've done it before (just not very often) 7) stop ****ing moaning
Face it lads. Life is **** and then you die! This outlook has enabled me to get very excited over minor events, such as LFC winning a game.
Yeah, but he isn't adapting, nor are any of the others being forced to stand in. FORCED TO STAND IN. How much are these being paid to play and they can't cut the mustard? Come on!
We're 6 points from relegation zone and 8 points from top four. Truly, which one seems more likely after 12 games?
Which one seemed more likely in those other seasons? We've been here before in recent seasons, twice, and turned it around both times. It doesn't look great but it's looked worse before
That's what I've been wanting, but it's not really overly defensive the way TAA and Robbo play... They're almost midfielders.
Which is fine, as you have 3 CBs so will allow Gomez and Konate to cover the spaces out wide while still leaving 2 CBs in the middle. Id also just tell Hendo to sit infront of those cbs when we’re on the attack to protect the counter. Will at least mean we have bodies in the middle of pitch to hopefully stop teams getting straight through middle of our team. Can’t see it happening though,
Having an extra cb is useless it's just borrowing a body from elsewhere. Focus on where the real issue is. Zero and I mean zero ability to cover the ground. A) play konate. Do we really need Joe ****ing gomez up to his usual in this case? What would he be going. Spare man running forward??? Hardly. B) how do we solve inability to run in midfield? Not by taking a slot and giving it to a cb that's for sure. We could just as easily slot an extra cm in the diamond v Leeds was catastrophic. It put the wrong players in the wrong places again. Fabinho at the base with the full pitch to cover. Elliott running about randomly. Thiago not being able to run. My view now is close the gaps and elimate the errors. Stop flouncing about with the ball and make genuine clearances and scrap for it. 4231 is about right, not quite but is aa right as we will get for 4 games. Park henderson and thaigo and tell them (esp henderson) not to go anywhere. Henderson needs to be told this on a 5.minute basis cos he thinks he can still run Elliott wide right. Tsimikas wide left and put salah as 10 behind the donk. Simple as. Konate at rcb and tell them to stick together and actually help each other The sad thing is is we sacked klopp tomorrow a new manager, whoever that might be would just come in and drill this stuff. Klopp seems all at sea with ideas now and needs this world cup break to think imo.
Let’s be realistic. This won’t get fixed until next summer at the earliest - can’t see us getting in the heads that we need and we sure as hell won’t get the ready made players like Bellingham et al if we do not have CL. It can be done though, with a little pain amd patience - Klopp has done it before and can do it again. Reality is that we will not improve that much before the new year. We’ve taken the ‘2nd best player in the world’ out of this team and his replacement (Diaz) is injured….and his replacement (Jota) is also injured. That’s a lot of the pressing on the left, gone! our midfield legs; I thought we’d started the season not ready; not match fit. We’ve now had injuries in the middle and the players that we do have are aging and simply cannot manage a game every 3 days. Keita will leave, Milner will leave or retire and then we have to let the non-performers go. I think we need three new midfield players!! up front, Salah’s form has improved the last couple of weeks but we need to be buying proper cover for him. I do not think that the natural replacement for Salah is Elliott. at the Back, we need to ship one out and bring another (monster) in at CB. We cannot manage with sick notes perpetually. thats 2 or 3 windows of purchases for FSG imo unless we sell one of the more valuable assets that we currently have to fund the rebuild.
I don’t quite get this without CL we won’t be able to attract the players. United don’t have CL. Signed some big players. Arsenal haven’t had it for years, Jesus, martinelli, saliba, odegard, all signed. Mane was signed when we didn’t have CL. So to Suarez. It’s not like we’re Leicester (no disrespect) who when they were in the CL was a huge factor in being able to buy players. Yes it helps, especially the extra money. But it’s not like our name, other players and manager aren’t a draw for big players. Plus we never really go after top players like that. We generally need hungry 20-24 year olds who can develop still and are one bracket below that world class category.
There are several real issues. One, we're not strong enough in midfield especially with the injuries. We can't fix that until at least January. We play a high line and our wing backs spend as much time in the opponents third as they do our own. We have gaps to exploit. The other is we're defensively frail and collapse when teams attack us. An extra man at the back means one CD can cover whichever winger gets forward, plugging the gap, and still leaving two CD in the middle. (Not to mention an extra CD when defending). We've actually got good CDs so should use them. We don't have many good healthy midfielders, so it makes sense to play to our strengths. Allow our wing backs to really get forward without watching over their shoulder.
