I cant believe I am here serioulsy imagining if we might get Defoe. It could happen. PLEASE let it happen. What a club we support and how things have changed in a few months since TF and AB came in.
Either Pav or Defoe would be a superb acquisition imo. They can both fill the hole we have in our squad admirably
Quick word of gratitude to BE, FB and GP as well.......... Thanks for selling up and buggering off, guys!
Whilst I have found this thread very amusing, I really do believe that now is the time to step in and put forward the voice of reason to pull some of you away from the fairies, where you appear to have drifted to. There is absolutely no way on this Earth that Harry is going to sell Defoe. If you know anything at all about Harry it will be that he absolutely loves Defoe. He got him in as a young loanee at Bournemouth (where I believe he still holds the club's scoring record for goals in one season), and he bought him from Spurs when in charge at Pompey, and then bought him back when he took over at Spurs. There only way that Levy would off-loan Defoe (and piss-off Harry) is if Defoe puts in a transfer request, which is highly unlikely. And even if he is sold, you are not going to get him for a mere £8 million! Not even a sniff. If he ever were to come on the market there would be a lot of clubs lining up to pay £16 million for him, easy. Look, I'm not having a pop, honestly I'm not. I've got absolutely no axe to grind with you or your club (as my previous posts will have amply demonstrated), but please be reasonable, guys. Defoe is an important player for us, even if he is currently being employed as a super-sub. Also, I note that this story has only appeared in The Daily Mail. What you've got to understand is that The Daily Fail hate Spurs, as is evidenced by their part in the tapping-up of Modric all through the Summer. Anything that rag writes about us is bound to be a wind-up.
Oh no he isn't, he's a very naughty boy!
That's the end of that one then. It's true what the bigger boy's say. Us little 'uns can't have dreams! Hoddle isn't a god...HE'S A DREAMSNATCHER!
BTW Spuds fan, why should a player want to waste his career on your bench? And 16 mill for Defoe at 29 , good luck with that! Bigger clubs might be interested, but would they bench him?
Dont spurs have to sell in order to buy players? and im sure they would look at 8mil for Defoe if it came along.....
It is for the best. You can dream. Of course, you can dream! But, unfortunately for you, Defoe is too much of a dream. Perhaps even a wet-dream, for you boys Well, I can't say that doesn't hurt.
I thought 'Arry loved Crouchie too but he had to go to - a. Balance the books and b. Make room for new arrivals Which brings me to the lad Defoe, I reckon he will go in Jan to make way for another pop at Rossi. Spuds have ambitions to win the Prem and Levy will want bigger names than Jermaine.
We had to get rid of some of our fringe players at the beginning of the season in order to reduce our wage bill. From what I understand, what with the players we've managed to off-load, we no longer have to sell in order to buy again. However, if we buy another striker (in addition to Adebayor), it's likely that Pav will go.
Personally, I'm not bothered if Defoe goes or stays. He's been fairly kak over the last season-and-a-half. But he won't go for £8 million. Sunderland would give us £16 million, for a start!
Is he? Oh well they'll all probably home in on Schneider instead. Whats wrong with us signing an ageing Italian anyway? Lets get Del Piero out of retirement and down to the bush. If we did I might consider replacing 'HULSE' on the back of my shirt with his name instead. Good luck to the Spuds, for too long they've been in the shadow or Arsenal, nice to see them playing attractive flowing and entertaining football.
