That was the part i had in mind when posting. Defence should be fine, attack is if anything over loaded (you missed Jota off your list) but for some reason midfield has been completely ignored. yes i know you have some young lads with big potential but some experienced players with legs for the transition from past to future would have made more sense than the top heavy attack.
Also I know injuries is an easy excuse, all teams have injuries etc. Its clearly had an issue. As klopp says, it’s not so much just missing those players, but means with the quick turnaround of games, can’t voluntarily rotate, picks the best team for each game. Players having to play constantly without being able to rotate. Also losing those relationships. Feel sorry for Nunez, he’s come into side out of form but how many different systems has he played in up top? 433, 442 with wingers, 442 diamond. How many times has he had a settled players around him to strike some kind of understanding? Add in TAA being so far out of form as the main creator over last 3 years.
I included Jota? I don’t think it’s been ignored. Was pretty well known we were in for the guy that went to madrid this summer but that didn’t work out. almost seems like get him this summer then go all out for Bellingham next year as we wouldn’t need any other big name in other areas? Put tchoumeni and Bellingham into that midfield alongside Elliott Hendo fab thiago and suddenly that looks a very strong midfield with experience and youth, power and technical ability and cover for each role. Club obviously thought we’d get by this year without another. I think will be telling that if we go for 1 in jan 1 in summer then that was always the plan. Obbiously the Bellingham stuff might be bollocks. There’s clear interest there but whether we seriously think could get him, who knows. I’d imagine a few conversations have been had with agents to gauge interest.
I had to re-read it twice to spot it Think it might be because you put him after two defenders and my brain slipped past it to Diaz
I don't like calling out players, but why is Klopp keeping blind faith in Gomez in the hope that he'll come good? It's costing us points. Gomez was good against City and that was it. For most of the season he's been a bloody liability
I have no words. Utterly despondent. From heroes to zeros in almost no time at all. As I have said before, it appears to me that something fundamental has gone wrong. A mate (season ticket holder) called into the Cheese before heading off for the match. I texted him half way through the second half to say it was worse than the first half. He texted back about 15 minutes before the end to say he was in Sam Dodd's as he needed vodka. I just don't know what can be done to put things right as there is so much wrong. I'm normally (almost) as positive as saint, but I'm struggling badly after the last two league games. Our stock is getting so low that we will soon start struggling to attract quality players. How the mighty are ****ing fallen
Klopp needs to stop and think. Hea changed a simple 442 to a 41212 cos he thinks he has no lm. Well guess what. He's exposed the exact same players to the exact same issues as before. Fabinho on his own. Can't run can't get close. Thaigo with entire left side on own. Can't run Elliott running about everywhere and anywhere.mostly.giving it away. Gomez his usual sloppy casual self seeing no danger in anything he does. Go back to 442. Drop fabinho and gomez for last two league games (**** the cl, **** the league cup) Alisson trent konate vvd robertson Elliott henderson thiago milner/tsimikas/carvalho Salah nunez. Close the gaps. Get two lines of 4 to cover the midfielder lack of running. Pump it at the fast lads (for diego) Simple as sin. First player to pull.out of a tackle would be subbed for me. I'd let them all know if I see one single pushy move like that I'll make an example. I don't want robertson style stupidity. I want to see tackles. Gomez and fabinho pulled out of tackles all night last night.
100% looked like that to me. Which is nonsense give Phillip amd konate were on bench so gomez could be pushed out there.
It wasn't pretty a team willing to attack us just exposed weaknesses throughout. It's not a bad squad but there are people who are finished and we didn't see it coming this season. Just have to ride this out and hope the club bring the right players in. January might be interesting.
think the strain of last season and the short pre season has left some well under cooked where as others just look like they have fallen off a cliff .
Yeah something has changed the club should have realised that Hendo and Milner were almost done and done, realised Keita and AOC were done and looked at where that leaves us but there you go we have to deal with it now.
Just have to struggle through. I'd serious play kids midweek and just try rest the few legs we have to even get 2 points out of last two league games now. There better be major signings Jan 1 or there's going to be mass hysteria.
Do we go very different. 532 Ali Taa Gomez Vvd Konate Robbo Elliott hendo Thiago Salah Nunez Tas and Robbo push on anyway so still provide the width and elliott can push on so still have 5 pushed up but you have 3 at the back still, vvd can stay central so isn’t dragged to wide areas where he doesn’t like being. Hendo can be told to just sit so still have 4 central players to hopefully stop easily getting through us. Don’t personally like 5 at the back as it comes across very defensive but stm, we have to go back to basics and shut up shop a bit.
What makes you think the club didn't realise or try to address it? We've operated on a 'the right player or no player's policy fit years now Edit; obviously, giving Hendo and Milner a new contract aside
I think they thought Hendo and Milner could do their jobs for another season and that's Hendo as a starter and that they had enough back up in Keita and AOC along with Jones, Carvalho and Elliott as rotation players. The first 4 I mentioned are done, Hendo and Milner should be back up. The last 2 sold immediately. Thiago then is injury prone and that's meaning the likes of Carvalho are playing more than expected. Fabinho I just don't get he seems knackered. When you list all those players it seems we have enough but too many are either done or not ready.
I think we were definitely in for CMs in the summer but it didn't work out. We wanted Tchouaméni imo but he chose Real Madrid.
