I had already read this before you posted, not surprising really as it was Robert Tombs (one of the more measured Brexit commentators) in the Telegraph.

He is, of course, correct that the Federalist/Social Democratic/Big State Remain orthodoxy never concerns itself with the fact that the United States of France is a declinist sinking ship that they are desperate for us to get back aboard so that we can decline and sink with it.

Since Brexit, British GDP growth has actually exceeded that of Germany, but that cannot be mentioned. The slowest UK growth is in Northern Ireland, stuck in the EU by the abject Protocol. Unfortunately, Sunak’s policies will lead us to stagnation under a Chancellor who follows a Treasury orthodoxy that persists from Gordon Brown’s time.
