Standard Saints game really. Play **** for a half, look ok for a half but no cutting edge really and no finisher
I guess that is it for Ralph then. Our final two league games before the World Cup are against a massively in form Newcastle and away to Liverpool. Which looks like 3 defeats in a row at this stage and the end of him
Apologies everyone, this has been entirely my fault. Missed both of the Bournemouth & Arsenal matches live due to family commitments and have seen every other match this season.
I really don't want to say it, but for the first time I now think Ralph has to go. Combination of factors make me think he needs to go, but today just typified why he isn't good enough. You have been great for us, Ralph, and kept us up against the odds for 3 seasons whilst spending nothing, but you aren't the right man to take us forward.
Frustrating game. AMN was excellent when he came on, but I always think he doesn't look as fit as the others. Oh for someone who can finish. Probably should have been a 1-1 that game, but hey-ho.
25m on Edozie and Mara. Surely that money could have gone on a f*cking decent striker. And how we miss Redmond and Romeu. So painful. I’m embarrassed watching this excuse of a team. Absolute dross.
Ok so to be Mr Negative. Regardless of second half performance, this is the problem with Ralph’s Saints in a nutshell. A well fought for point against top of the table Arsenal who were bang in form immediately followed by…. An absolutely honking first half performance and ultimately a loss against a Crystal Palace side in poor form in our immediate vicinity. Arsenal game and performance rendered worthless and it’s not good enough.
Eight goals conceded away to City and Spurs. Fair enough, no issue with that. Only twelve goals conceded from our other eleven. And those games include Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea. So it's not like we're shipping goals lift, right and center. The problem is that when we create chances, it's Che on the end of them.
Looks like we could of and should of got something from the game. Damage done in first half. Is this the epitome of Ralphs Achilles heel?
You're treating it as an either/or, when we tried (and failed) to sign a striker in addition to Edozie and Mara. Both of whom, I would suggest, should be playing more. I'm also really not missing Redmond, frankly, who has not been good for a long time (and is struggling even to get playing time in Turkey).
The team is worse than last season. It’s miraculous how we’ve spent 60m only to get worse. Mind blown.
Annoying thing is, we have Rickie Lambert up front in that game, we actually probably win it and go 12th.
This isn’t the right way to look at it. The money on them didn’t take away from money for a striker as far as we can tell (given large bids for Gakpo). It just seems like we somehow didn’t identify someone who wanted to come in that range
What he is doing in Turkey is irrelevant. For us he was more creative than the likes of Aribo and Elyounoussi.
