At the start of the season NWs attitude towards Taarabt was almost the same as last season, but he didn't produce. Over the last three months it seems that NW has tried different things, but nothing seems to have worked. The more public outbursts seem to be a final effort to get Adel to get his arse into gear, train hard and put a shift in on the pitch. That has failed too. Adel Taarabt is Adel Taarabt and nothing will change that. Even if he comes on, plays like he has done this so far season, but then scores a wonder goal and everyone goes "WOW", it won't make much difference if we are 4-0 down at the time.
Eamon....Taarabt DID produce at the start of the season and was unlucky with a couple of efforts that struck the woodwork. He's rubbish now though and I wouldn't start with him. I'm sure you and some others on here will be pleased to see the back of him anyway!
Unlucky with "a couple of efforts" sums it up. That was on the pitch. There is a lot more going on behind the scenes with his unwillingness to train, etc, and the storming off when he doesn't get his way and running his mouth off to the foreign press. I bet Claridge would have put himself about more than Adel, even though he doesn't have even 1% of Adel's talent.
How do you know he is unwilling to train? Are you there at the time? The fact is, Adel is our ONLY genuine class player and we will struggle without his goals and assists. He is playing terribly at the moment. You believe that's because he's not very good. I believe it's for other reasons which have been argued over to the point of exhaustion! Even having said that, he is still given the attention of 2 or 3 opposition players when he gets the ball, which creates space for others. Anyway, whichever one of us is right doesn't really matter, as his time here is coming to an end. I only hope we get someone in to replace his creativity, or we will go back down!!
No I won't. If he could do the job for us then I would be extremely happy. Just because I criticise him for his lack of effort and his petulence doesn't mean that I would be "glad to see the back of him". You would like to make out that any comments against him are a personal vendetta against the guy. They are not. But if you are happy for the team to carry on as it is, playing with 10.1 men with maybe the odd good pass or cracking goal every three or four games, and getting relegated by the end or March, then believe what you will. NW and the players have tried everything to keep him happy since he joined. Adel Taarabt does not seem to have done anything to help himself. So now they have started to goad him into it. It is down to him. Nobody would be happier than I to see him get his act together and started to work hard and turn it on.
Warnock said so in an interview at the beginning of the season! Don't you listen to any of Neil's interviews ... or is the truth too hard to listen to?
Now you guys understand fully why we were so keen to get rid of him. None of us Spurs fans were under any illusion that the lad is a great talent, but neither were we under any illusion that he's high-maintenance. Football is a team game, and with Taarabt it's about himself. We are a better team without him (which is something that Harry knew from the start, hence the very few opportunities he got to start for us), and you will be a better team without him. Yes, you will lose something of your sparkle, but you'll also be a harder team to beat. We would all like to be entertained AND to win every game we play, but if it was a choice between the two, which would you choose right now? For your club, that's exactly the choice you have with Taraabt.
The Rangers manager said, surely with tongue fixed firmly in cheek: "I was really pleased with Taarabt's attitude. "He doesn't train very well, so he has to play. I was very pleased he came through because he does need three games in a week to just push him on. He looked good fitness wise, the best he's been, apart from the last 15 minutes. "And if we can get another game out of him on Saturday [at Wigan] before the international break, then he promises to be back to what he should be for the Newcastle match. That's quite good, really." Asked why Taarabt doesn't train well, Warnock retorted: "Because he doesn't like training!" That's an extraordinary state of affairs for a player who was made captain last season and led the charge to the Premier League........................................................http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/stand...-of-carling-cup-after-2-0-loss-to-rochdale.do
NW has said Adel had a stomach upset during the week(poor boy), maybe laying the grounds for him not starting him this weekend.
Goading him won't work. He needs to be told he's the best whilst others need a constant bollocking. Anyway, as I've said, it doesn't really matter who is right now, as he is playing crap and will not get his confidence back any time soon whilst being constantly "goaded". I'm not happy for the team to carry on carrying him, which is why I've said, on numerous threads, that he shouldn't be in the starting team for the time being. Tell me Eamon...who would you prefer to watch every week.....Taarabt, with his good days and bad days....or Barton who is usually consistent, but nothing special? The game needs characters, not 11 fit and strong robots!!
You're starting to get on my wick now Eamon!! I simply don't like the "blame Taarabt for everything" brigade on here. Recently, I heard Warnock saying that Adel was working really hard recently. It's a confidence thing with him, not the fact that he can't run a ****ing marathon!!
I am sorry that we will never see eye to eye on this one. However, there is a limit to how long we can keep him in the team to try and play him into some sort of form. If he gets a game and plays well nobody will be happier than me ... but we can't wait. And as for "blaming Taraabt for everything", I have never done so. However, my comments about him have been very critical on the threads that have been started about him (which have been many) and I will respond to people who seem to think that we must play him not matter what and defend him when he plays badly. On other threads I have been critical of the way the whole team and other individuals have played.
This is precisely why you're getting on my wick mate (that and the fact that I am Mr grumpy from grumpy town today!). You make your points, but you don't read what someone else is saying!! How many times do I have to say it. I DON'T WANT TAARABT IN THE TEAM. His confidence is shot and he's playing badly and we can't afford to carry him like that in this league!! I do believe though that we will be the poorer for his absence in the long run and that we MUST replace him in January with creativity and goals or we will go down!
Col! I think you are right in about all you write about Adel mate, but I don't know all the supposed hard time he's getting from the other players is a factor in his current bad form. I've said before I think if he gets fully fit again his form may come back, but while he's so off form he should be on the bench. If he's had a stomach problem all week he is probably still in S**t form in more ways than one, and don't suppose he'll start tomorrow. But maybe this all just spin, and he'll start and win the game for us again - ooops I'm dreaming again!
Oslo...how do you explain his incredible dip in form then mate? Anyone who has played the game knows that when a player just wants to get rid of the ball as soon as he gets it, he is running scared of getting it wrong. OH...I give up!!
He's lost fitness and confidence sure, and maybe Neil and others could do a better at building it up, but I don't know about that - way too far away from it.
We all know he's good enough for this league but I think he's really suffering from confidence issues at the moment and Warnock hasn't got the time to work closely on him any more.
