I think everyone is simply bored by the whole situation and delaying the budget until the middle of November delays further uproar. Sunak is doing and saying little of any importance ....

... just dressing up, like Boris loved doing, and smiling a lot. At least he can use a comb.

I think it'll be a very difficult winter but really hope I'm wrong.

To be fair, I dont know how the budget can be anything but tough. I agreed with Sunak when he said we cant leave the next generations to pay for this ****. Covid on its own created a massive black hole and I for one think I should pay rather than my kids for that, tough as it will be on me. What I suspect the delay is about is trying to smooth out the really horrible stuff that is needed. I suspect Hunt would go to the maximum, and Sunak will be smoothing things a bit. I hope he doesnt let election point scoring get in the way, we are bollocksed economically and need to take some medicine I am afraid.

Imagine how history will judge her. If she thinks the last few weeks have been tough wait till the historian authors get hold of it. I feel sorry for her kids.

Sunak predicted exactly what would happen with her policies. Disastrously 6 weeks of stupidity will take anyone years to remedy. I was disappointed when he praised her to be honest, but that is party politics for you. I would wager his medicine will at least be the right prescription, Truss was the equivalent of the experimental **** you can buy on the internet.

Shadow financial secretary on Sky there - no interest in telling us what Labour would do.

This is why the voters don't vote for you.

Making bold promises, without knowing the state of the economy they'd inherit, would make people think they're no different to the Tory party tbh ...

.... no one has the slightest idea how things will be in two years time.

After twelve years the Tories have made a huge mess of everything from the NHS to the economy. The UK isn't as highly respected as it was when they first came in and they can't blame absolutely everything on Covid and 'global issues' as they keep trying to do.

Brexit has been 'delivered' but the package was left in the doorway, it rained and the couriers are refusing to take responsibility.

It would be interesting if they had to publish accounts like a business does. Even some basic figures of where income comes from and how much , and what spending is made/ needed.

Tremendous that Smug, sick of these tories excuses for this ****-show which is all down to their policies. Blaming everyone else for their mess and delaying doing anything about it.

Spot on. Tories are worries. But there is time for them to claw back and get out with the cover ups before election. .

They have just nabbed a new head of communications from ITV news too.

Public Accounts Committee, if the Tories haven't closed it down for insubordination.

They could at least present some semblance of a plan. No point saying they'll ready in two years time, they could call an election tomorrow. So where's the plan for now? Even some general economic principles.

Windfall tax is quickly becoming Starmer's version of the previous incumbent's Corporation Tax - a seemingly unlimited source of untapped money that will pay for everything, and the real world application of hasn't been thought about at all.

I know the Tories are ****e - give me some evidence that you're not going to do exactly the same but with a red rosette on, Labour.

So you'll stick with the ****e tories because Labour won't provide detailed plans or evidence of policies even though the tories are the ones sitting on the OBR report scared ****less?

Would there be any point in changing if they were just going to do the same?

People will vote against the Tories for revenge ...

... not necessarily because other parties are that much different.

    True.

That does nothing to improve what we get though. The Tories then wait til people get fed up with Labour rather than try to improve themselves, and round we go again in ever decreasing circles round the plughole.
