Did anyone else read about the tragic story involving Billy Sharp? His son passed away after only 2 days, but he was courageous enough to play last night, even getting on the score sheet before revealing a moving tribute to his son. This deserves a standing ovation from every football fan in the country IMO.
Carlos Tevez. £250,000 a week. Refuses to play because he doesn't feel up to it. Billy Sharp. £10,000 a week. Will play two days after the tragic loss of his two day old son. Says a lot I think. Thoughts with Billy Sharp and his family.
I agree 110% with you boys... It was unbelievably brave of him to have played so soon after the tragic death of his son. Football is certainly a wonderful release or means of escape from all the stresses we carry around. However, i fear the enormity of what's happened may yet to have fully hit home. There's bound to be some extremely dark times ahead for him and his family. My thoughts are certainly with him and he will undoubtedly need the support of all those around him (as would anyone in situation) during what must be a truly nightmarish scenario in every sense.
My thoughts are with him, by the sound of things he got a great response from the players and fans (both sides) which hopefully might have helped him a little in his dark hour
If you remember the same tragic thing happened to Jason euall. iirc he went on a got streak when it happened then completely fell away some time later. Back to billy sharpe, i can't imagine how he feels, my thoughts are with both him and his partner.
Curbs gave Euell time off, and he was told to come back when he was ready, which, if I remember correctly, was about 2 weeks later.
I had a few days off school after my mum died and when I got back I still wasn't in the right mindframe for ages, so for Sharp to play and get a goal so soon after this happened, respect to the man.
Surely not...!! The Referee wants stoning to death if he did. All this booking players for celebrating is an absolute joke Imo. I want to see players enjoy the moment of scoring their club. Just so long as they refrain from intentionally goading the opposition fans i couldn't give a monkeys what they do. They could strip off and run round with the corner flag down their japs eye for all i care!!
nah im jesting. he probably didnt. however the 15 yr old lad who got booked for celebrating with his mother the other week (was it torquay? or maybe wycombe)...please stone that ref.
He didnt get booked because it said on the report that Referee: Mr Deadman (sorry not a joke there, he was the ref) got a good reception for leaving his cards in his pocket
