Victor Orta is a man wanted by many clubs around the world and was discussed as one of the Chelsea targets. However I give him a decent mark for his player finds excluding his supermarket dash at the start. But his seeking out Jesse Marsch as the main Bielsa replacement was a joke. Data driven On the employment of Joe Sheilds at Chelsea Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali: “We have a clear plan and will adopt a modern, data-driven philosophy, focused on elite emerging talent”.
that is certainly a possibility. I haven’t given up on him yet though. Still young for a centre half.
We’ve only rumours to suggest anyone wanted Orta. If Chelsea had offered him a job he’d most likely have gone. It’s the same rumours when we sign anyone. X number of other clubs interested. Who knows. On another note Gelhardt a doubt again for Liverpool after his five minutes against Fulham. He’s looking injury prone
Had to turn the presser off as sick to death of his gobshyte. Spoken to the board countless times he says and discussed bringing in more coaches, psychologists and others…. Seems everyone else is to blame ffs and also looks we have a shyt load of injuries. He then says we have less muscle injuries this season as if last season was Bielsa’s fault however look at this lot
Think Vic had spoken to Jesse on and off for a few years. Marsch’s ex players including some at Leipzig… and of course erling haaland among others tend to speak very highly of him. No doubt some of that is ‘nice bloke’ stuff but a lot of it is football related. I’m sure his appointment was more than just data driven. But hey it’s easier for people to just call him a clueless yank who’s out of his depth. Now this may indeed be true but some might also argue that most of the people making those comments from the outside have no idea what the swimming pool looks like never mind how deep it is. that’s a football manager’s lot. Lots of people who watch the game, and i include myself in this, don’t fully understand what they’re seeing. Many think you can control results when you can only influence performance. For a lot of fans football is pretty linear: - ball in opponents net = good manager/players/board - Ball in our net = bad manager/players/board And you know what, at the end of the day that’s all that matters to anyone. I appreciate I come across on here as a marsch apologist. I’m not really. I see flaws in the system and thinking. I think what his teams do is actually a great tactic but probably too rigid as a philosophy… and maybe too reliant on 100% player compliance. I’m fine if we move him on now, It's a tough gig for anyone following someone as revered and loved as Bielsa. As evidenced by all this MB sentiment we see coming flooding back. I don't feel sorry for him - he's very well paid and he knew what he was taking on. Let's find some other (very well paid) sucker to ridicule and rant at.
No, I know you have an aversion to the whole system so I try to avoid giving you likes to save any embarrassment
I watched the presser. Dunno what the issue is with what he said. Sounded pretty much bang on from what I see. The players folded under pressure last year. They are doing it again this year. That's why he is looking at sports phsycologists and what not. Sounds like a pretty sound idea to me. He says the expected goals and stuff say that we should be comfortable midtable but it's only points that matter and he takes responsibility for results. He understands the fans frustration and is also aware that if results keep going wrong that he will be sacked. He also basically said that he needs to find the squad players that can deal with the pressure of the current situation implying (correctly) that some players are letting it affect confidence more than others. Says he is tired of watching us being competitive in games only to watch us miss chances and then give away cheap goals. Genuinely perplexed on why anyone would say any of it is bullshit. Sounded pretty spot on to me. Good luck to the guy.
