Define a 'proven manager'...? It's the nature of the beast that if you're an aspiring upper-mid table (top 10 or so budget) championship club, then any 'proven' championship manager will have a couple of **** ups on their CV. Those that don't have, will be holding out for a PL club in distress or a parachute Championship club - so then you're faced with choosing between 3 options: Overpaying or offering more favourable terms than would perhaps be in the clubs longer term financial interest; bringing in someone from abroad, or taking a risk on an up and coming 'domestic' coach. It's probably an irony that Dawson's success so far with his 'domestic' (sic) approach has probably led the owners to consider others with a similar profile to his.
Corboran Carvahal Martins All can point to experience of proven success at clubs they managed. I get the point that they also have failures on their CV’s. They are just a different level to Arveladze who’s only success came in Uzbekistan. Potter and Howe have certainly shone a light on domestic managers. Dawson has certainly made Acun sit up and take notice and with Rosenior having such a good reputation in the game it might be a cheaper but effective road to go down.
Do you not think that Dawson seems to be loyal to the club, and maybe, as long as they retain him they feel they have an insurance policy so can perhaps take a risk on Rosenior ? If it worked out then there could well be another 'club legend' on the staff. If either of those two can get the current squad to show the commitment and spirit they each had when wearing the shirt - on a consistent basis* then things could get interesting this season or next if given the tools, patience and backing they'd need. *of course that's the hard part.
Especially when most of us on here were immediately skeptical Shota would be good enough and as it turned out, he wasn't. Perhaps a bit of naivety from Acun.
Maybe he wanted someone he felt he could trust to handle the transition? Maybe he just really didn't rate McCann? Shota finished the season with the better points average of the pair after all. ...and yeah, Acun's media outlook possibly had something to do with wanting rid of the old guard, us vs them kind of attitude and perhaps feel his way into the club with an ally on the coaching side? It was well enough known that both Grant and Ehab had contempt for the media. Supposedly some of the senior players were refusing to speak to them also. Whether changing that culture amounts to footballing naivety or proves to be a sound long-term outward-engagement strategy remains to be seen. But we are currently up 11 points and 2 better goal difference in the league table than after matchday 16 last season. Crowds are significantly up. So yeah, terribly, handwringingly and almost criminally naive and unsuccessful if you say so...
I think Dawson speaks very well and has had us playing some of our best football this season. Although Huddersfield was a horror show! Rosenior is also a very good communicator and adding his tactical understanding with Pardo’s apparent obsession with data and formations, partnered with Dawsons steel and motivation we might be on to something. May as well keep Stockdale in the mix as well as he also seems to add something
First half wasn't. We've had decent spells in all his games but we weren't ever going to sort the defensive chaos post WBA out overnight.
Not really. He was bigger than the club, so I was grateful he was willing to spend time here. Doesn’t stop him from being a two faced snake of a man.
City will be here long after Brucie. I mean look at the man. There's got to be some serious cholesterol in that amalgamated hulk of bone, leather and Brassica at the very least. He was good in his day, but not great - as a both player and a manager. But he was perfect for us at the time. Gave me some of my best times as a city fan, an architect of things I never expected to see. But no. The bloke needs to retire, do the media and after dinner circuit and take it easy. And we need to move forwards, not backwards. IMHO.
I agree mate, if you ever start thinking the Club doesn't come first then you might as well stop being a fan.
LR started his coaching ambitions with us, I remember him going to U23's games and helping out with the coaching towards the end of his time with us. I always had the feeling he would turn into a very good coach, articulate, intelligent & and very personable. Getting him on board with Daws as his number 2 could well be the best for the club at the moment and see how it develops. If another manager came in, he would probably want to bring his own coaching staff, and Daws and others push out or down the pecking order, which would be a bit of a snub to Dawsand others, but in Rosenior I think you add another progressive coach and maintain the morale of the existing staff.
To be fair, between Daws and Rosie, I think we could just toss a coin and end up with the right man for the job. We can't go wrong.
That's exactly what Boro did though. Went for an experienced manager, but have now replaced him with someone who's only managed a couple of games. The notion that going for an experienced manager works isn't accurate

Don't give a **** how Bruce saw it, he wasn't /isn't emotionally connected to the Club like we the fans are. Any owner is a custodian of our great Club, they come and go, just like Managers and Coaches. The Club is constant just like us fans, we're always here and always will be, so Bruce can find a nice dark corner and **** himself.
