It is also quite likely that you never bothered to read the piece as it does state that the Bank pumped £450bn into the economy fuelling inflation. The facts of the matter are quite straightforward: the Government places gilts (UK State bonds) onto the bond market. The Bank of England uses money to buy large volumes of those gilts, thus transferring money to the Government, which it spends (or squanders, depending on your viewpoint of spending commitments).
