Benjamin 'Dizzy' Disraeli was the son of Isaac, a Jewish Italian writer. He was Britain's first, and so far only, Jewish Prime Minister therefor our first minority in that office, now we have a 2nd as of tomorrow, Rishi Sunak is a British politician who is now leader of the Conservative Party, he is of Punjabi Indian descent and a Hindu, he was never my personal choice because of my distaste for backstabbers but our democratic UK political system has voted the guy in and I welcome him and will support him in his job 100% and I really do wish him success.

When the day comes for the next general election, I will consider him on his actions, the state of our country, compare all of the parties manifestos and make a judgement on the way I vote, I don't just shuffle off like a trained pit pony and vote Blue,Red or with a Yellow stripe down my spine, I consider all of the options and issues, I believe most of the people on here are of that persuasion, I can't see the point insulting people because of their opinions, open discussion without fear or favour will always win the day.

Holy Joe's are very low down the pecking order in my view, what is the old quote by Voltaire, I've fell back on it several times in the past, ' I may not agree with what you say but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it?

    Well said Wiz <cheers>
I must admit, I do like pushing some peoples buttons - there are some serious points being made here - I do have strong views and I’m always up for a debate - but my ‘insults’ towards people of an opposite view are always tongue in cheek and never meant to offend :emoticon-0148-yes:

That is the beauty of our forum, the right of self expression and an independent opinion, just keep pressing all of those buttons LJ or Brexit you pursue, it keeps the conversation flowing. :emoticon-0105-wink:

    Stalled? In what way?
We’re out of the EU and (trying to) trade with other nations independently. We have also put an end to the free movement of people to stop all those pesky French and Germans from coming and settling over here. I thought that was what it was all about?

What else is left to do - apart from build up trade deals with the countries that we haven’t got one with yet.

I thought Boris ‘got Brexit done’ - didn’t he?

I’m not being sarcastic btw - much as I hate Brexit slightly more each waking hour, I honestly thought we had reached the utopia which the Brexiteers voted for.

I was talking to a pro Brexit friend of mine who said he will not be happy until we have cut all trade and political links with Europe. I said he is as mad as a box of frogs, but I don’t think he is alone in that view.

He's no madder than the box of frogs Macron is running. If there's an argument for getting out of the EU, that's it.

Massive difference between getting out of the EU and cutting all trade and economic links with our closest neighbours.

I bet your mate still wants his Belgian or German beer, or perhaps Irish Guinness, kept cold in his German fridge, driving his French, German or Italian car, eating Italian pizza, French cheeses and Spanish or Italian ham in his French stick bread or brioche roll. I bet he even has a croissant or pain-au-raisin for breakfast with his Italian blend filter coffee. He’s probably partial to a Greek kebab after a night on the foreign beer and perhaps he banks with Santander.
Perhaps his utilities are provided by EDF energy. Even if not, every time he (and everyone in this country) boils his kettle for his morning cup of tea, he’s consuming French-generated electricity, which we import from them to cover our peak periods.

Yeah, let’s stop trading with them……….. great idea <doh>
