Good Morning. It's Tuesday 25th October, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leading bookies slash odds on Leeds relegation

Following Leeds disastrous run, leading bookmakers 'Bet365' have shortened their odds for relegation. Jesse Marsch's men sit joint bottom of the Premiership on nine points, along with Nottingham Forest and Wolves, with just over a quarter of the season completed.

Forest (1/2), Bournemouth (4/6) and Wolves (5/4) are currently favourites to go down, with Leeds just behind them on 13/8. Next come Southampton 11/4, Leicester 7/2 and Everton 9/2.

If you were offered fourth bottom, would you take it?

With no wins on the board for over two months, and a trip to Anfield around the corner, it's fair to say, things are far from rosy at Elland Road. Their inability to string a few passes together, and ineffective strike force, highlight just a few of the problems on Jesse Marsch's plate. In reality, the problems at Leeds Utd go a lot deeper than this season.

It makes little sense to clear the decks and start again, and in any case, Radrizzani does not have the funds to do this. Because of this, Leeds are likely to stick with Marsch, and hope the players can rediscover their form from the beginning of the season.

If you were offered 17th place come the end of the season (now), would you take it?

    Where is it going wrong

Latest statistical data from 'Whoscored' shows that Leeds work rate is second to none. They top the Premier League when it comes to both tackles and interceptions this season. It is only to be expected that because of this, their foul count would be high too. This season, Leeds concede almost 14 fouls every game

    leedsstatss.jpg

Whilst their work rate should be applauded, if they can't keep hold of the ball, they are exerting a lot of energy for very little. Leeds passing leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, statistically they are the third worse (along with Brentford) in the top flight. Couple that, with a leaky defence, and monumental problems up front, Jesse Marsch faces an almost impossible task of keeping Leeds afloat!

As 2P says we need to clear the decks. Not a big name here in the UK but much talked about around Europe. Villa looked at him last week before bringing in Emery, and Norwich tried to get him last season……expected at a big European club this season? Norwegian season closes in December.

Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt made headlines across Europe after they had destroyed Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma 6-1 in the Champions League. And while a result like that was seen as something that was quite shocking and out of this world, in truth Bodo’s rise to prominence has been going on in full swing for quite some time, and they had one man to thank for their change in fortunes – Kjetil Knutsen. When Knutsen arrived at Bodo in 2017, the club were just relegated out from the Eliteserien, Norway’s top-flight league. Knutsen took his team from relegation fodder to a record breaking club only beaten once last season. Bodo’s tactics underneath Knutsen implemented an adventurous, open, expansive, and ruthless style of play that some have dubbed, “kamikaze football,” and that attractive style of play, combined with a clear and relaxed state of mind free of pressure.

Sounds closer to Bielsaball than Marschbore?

Some Scandinavian coaches who have and are doing a job around the world: Janne Andersson, Ole G Solskjaer, Lars Lagerback, Sven Goram Eriksson, Tommy Svensson, Roland Nilsson.

Bamfords downfall has always been not being confident with his right foot. Everytime Bamford gets a chance he tries to use his left so is either tackled because he took too long opting for his left foot. Trying to do the impossible with the outside of his left rather than using his right. Too many one on ones with the keeper wasted. Not good enough for a Premier League team. Yes hes a worker but his job is to score goals

Cellino was right when he said something about coaches and water melons. The fact is you never really know how it will work out, as shown by many pundits forecasting Bielsa would only last a few weeks/months and then he acheived miracles with a bunch of mid table no hopers (or bought his way to success depending if you live on the south coast and never see Leeds play).
    ,
That's why we need to get rid of Jesse now (Sunday) and get someone else in asap, because the truth is if they also stink the place out we might need to change again in February.

However, that's not my preference and why I'd rather go with (and stick with) Sean Dyche. Contrary to popular belief Dyche had Burnley playing some good stuff when they twice won promotion in 2014 & 2016 both times losing only 5 games. If we were to go down then surely Dyche is the man with the track record to bring us straight back up. That's if the worst was to happen of course and with 259 games as a PL manager under his belt hopefully he could use that experience to keep us up.

Lazy journalists talking about Dyche and Gerrard is a joke. Imagine under Dyche we go for big CBs and a couple of big target men backed by a couple of animals at full back. Not for me and the way the media ignore what happened with Gerrard. At Rangers Gerrard had the guy Beake as his No2. He took him to Villa but he went his own way to QPR and took them to top of the league whilst Villa collapsed. So be honest Gerrard wasnt the man his No2 was
