Be honest, you lot are a bit like the spuds (probably not as bad) when it comes to transfers. You all get over excited and a bit damp about the players you buy until you see them perform in the PL
Just watched West Ham score against Bournemouth with a clear handball for the assist and yet VAR let’s it stand. I just don’t get what it’s there for anymore
Emery's a decent manager but not exactly renowned for exciting football. Have a horrible feeling Villa won't go too well for him.
Going to be hammered. Unrealistic expectations and no patience with anything but in particular no maptience with his style of football. I'll give him 6 months
Yet another VAR disgrace. The problem with VAR officials is that they can’t see the woods for the trees. They focus on the minutiae of the rules: was it second or third phase etc. The point they should concentrate on is was a foul committed before the goal and/or did they get an unfair advantage because of the incident? No doubt it was a clear handball and wham benefitted from it. No doubt at all it should have been disallowed. Doubt whether Moyes would have protested strongly.
What’s the point of VAR if all they do is to back up the pitch referee when he’s clearly in the wrong? Disgrace as a team could get relegated as a result of these nonsensical decisions.
We won't catch City or Arsenal, but if we turn the corner and start playing our best third or fourth is still possible. Of course continue playing bad and the floor is the limit.
To rub salt into the wound they give a penalty to West Ham for the ball hitting the defender’s hand sliding from a yard away. VAR won the game for West Ham.
I see west ham were awarded a pen for handball form about a yard away "cos the defenders arm was uo" yet when this happened v arsenal we did not get awarded a pen. now.... I didn't mind ours as it was close but this is inconsistency again isn't it.
Everyone is getting tired of this I think it’s fair to say, just check offsides for goals and ****ing leave the on pitch officials to deal with the rest
Ridiculous inconsistencies yet again from VAR. Are those referees even being given basic training on how to use and interpret the rules? How is it possible that A looks at it so differently to B who looks at differently to C. FFS I cannot be beyond the skill or wit of their chief to get them together and agree on basic stuff. More importantly focus on the big picture. Did the defending team prevent a goal or a potential goal? Did the attackers benefit from a foul? Both goals last night could have been ruled out by another VAR.
I'd say just let the pitch ref check the screen and talk it through. 30 seconds to fix a bad call or unsure. no need for another ref hidden in a box to back his mate and cause confusion. the whole point is to have a possibility to rectify a bad decision that impacts the game. not to make even more bad calls. Managers should get reviews and force refs hands and leave it at that.
This. No more of VAR asking the referee to review a goal. The pitch referee should routinely review every goal himself, certainly those where there is a potential foul beforehand. There is the technology now with these special glasses even if he doesn’t want to run to a monitor. Some will take 1 second and a few might take half a minute as you say but he’ll make sure he reviews the complaints of the players. If he sees the obvious handball himself he will rule out the goal without having to be seen to disagree with his mate. It’s much easier to agree with than to publicly rebuff a colleague. I wonder whether VAR is as nonsensical elsewhere as it is here.
