Dawsons team, stockdale only rocked last week , Barry Richardson was equally part of shota’s team Equally we’ve been as poor as ever under dawson.
Nevertheless, we have what we have - the performances have improved markedly under Dawson overall, he talks a good game, and the tactical switch for the last two games was a master stroke, whoever it came from. So I’d like to see them continue for the foreseeable future. Why shake things up again?
I think Saturdays game will be a good test of our new found form. A good performance and a result against blackburn has to put dawson as the favourite for the job. A poor performance and the clamour for a new manager will return. Personally i think we will do well against blackburn and dawson will be in the running.
Strange what a couple of weeks can do in football…Long may continue. * Hypothetical alert. Could well be overthinking this a tad perhaps but last night over a pint a few of us older supporters like myself discussed City’s apparent revival given the recent turn of events of late. The Big Turk was top,of the agenda and there was a general consensus that he might well be sailing towards a bit of a predicament here..certainly at the moment . On the one hand Acun’s still apparently looking for a replacement for Shota whilst on the other the man he’s left in charge of things to hold the fort has suddenly got an ever growing section of supporters excited and some are now even questioning the need for a new appointment. Without going OTT or wanting to put a damper on things here our party discussed and eventually argued ( as you do) at one point does Acun make the call because whilst we are only a few games into Dawson’s reign the improvement is there for all to see and the fans as fickle as some are seem content…for now. Will the big man allow Daws to continue say up to the World Cup which for me would arguably be sufficient time to make up Acun’s mind on Daws and give The Big Turk more time to interview and look around or, as I suggested, is he waiting to see how Dawson really does over the coming fixtures before re Igniting his search? Either way. I genuinely once again wish Andy Dawson all the luck in the World because he really does have a fantastic opportunity now. UTT.
What a tricky position this is for Acun. Dawson has done a good job, but papering over cracks and building long term for a promotion push are two very different jobs. We'll only know if Dawson is the man for the latter job if Acun takes a risk. I suppose you could say the same over Rosenior. On the other hand, other candidates will presumably have some form of track record, but are they the person for this group of players at this time this season? I'm glad I don't have to choose.
It’s a risk whoever he appoints, even a Dyche or Parker would be a risk, but for me, leaving Dawson in charge, who has so far given better performances in all the games, maybe not full games, but there’s been an improvement in all the games since Luton. It would be preferable to keep Dawson over some random mate who’s previous experience was in Uzbekistan.
It's quite similar in some ways to when Grant was sacked and Shota brought in. That was an error so to repeat that would be extremely worrying. You change the manager because there's a need to do so. I just don't think that need is there. It's not a case where you have to give Daws a 3 year deal, just put a brief statement out that he'll continue until the WC break.
I think we may see daws ( and maybe Rosie) given it till the end of the season if we see a good result sat. It's a win win all round imo. I'm almost certain we wouldn't go down under that set up and if we see huge improvement over the season then a longer term deal is offered. If we stay up but make no real improvement then a new coach/manager comes in over summer.
This is probably the best option for this season. It would also strike me that Acun and Tan have learnt that its not so easy to get promoted.
This makes perfect sense to me. One thing is clear, the players definitely want Daws to be given the job. They're working their bollocks off for him. And fair play to the coaching staff, it seems like Stockdale has had a big impact too, but the last 2 the tactics have been spot on.
It a funny league, before yesterday there were still a few talking about a relegation fight, have a good next 4/5 and everyone will be talking about play offs
