First and foremost what an enjoyable watch that was! That was the best football we have played in a long time. Seri, who was superb and Woods together really works, they complement one another perfectly. Docherty has brought much needed energy to the side, and Christie certainly looks now he is getting up to speed a real asset. Much the better team throughout, Longman worked his socks off, and his first touch as really improved. The goal he scored was at absolute masterpiece, Seri's through ball to Greaves and Greaves cross was a joy to behold. I'm really getting to like Pelkas more and more, he gets into some really good positions, he just needs to get his shooting brushed up on. Greaves has his best game in a while, though as said he has to get out this habit of holding players. Figgy and Jones looked assured at the back, though having Woods and Seri in front of them has really helped. I guess the only small negative was the 2 goals conceded, both come from our right as was the goal against us at Blackpool, but I guess that is because Christie is getting in more advanced positions, which is leaving room behind him. Anyhow, 2 really good performances in the space of a few days has certainly lifted the mood. Daws and his team a really getting a tune out of these players, and long may it continue.
Could someone post the Highlights of todays game (Not Skye-unwatchable here). I could only get the Commentary on IFollow..no video. Obviously it was a brilliant performance. Best of the season. A win over Blackburn should confirm how much we've improved.
Thanks John. What a performance!! Some of Seri's long through balls were inch perfect and we could have had 2-3 more goals. On that showing we are definitely playoff, and hopefully promotion candidates.
If you get a VPN (eg Express VPN) then choose a location such as Luxembourg (which never seems to buy the TV rights) you can usually see in vision, Canada.
Just watched the highlights and it could have been more... I don't think Doc is on the top of Pelkas Christmas card list...,
The formation is a bit of an enigma. We're effectively playing 4x CMs which are keeping the oppo busy and letting our fullbacks push on. I suspect we'll start to see teams targeting our wide areas, which is where both of Rotherham's goals came from. For the first, Christie had been pulled out and you can see him suggesting to Woods that he should have been picking up the runner. For their second, well, I'm not convinced Christie even knew Eaves was behind him.
Without checking an checking...... a large majority of our conceded have come down the right side... 2 yesterday..
Rotherham had only previously lost one game at home. They also beat Stoke away midweek, they are also still above us in the table - with a game in hand!
They're also a promoted club with one of the weaker squads in the division with a new manager who might have the new manager bounce rubbing off. It was a good win but let's not go overboard on using it as a yardstick of performance.
What a fantastic away day yesterday was, long time since I'd enjoyed a match as much as yesterday. Great entertainment and a positive result that should have been even more convincing. Certainly wasn't expecting that after a game last Wednesday, more hoping of a decent match, expectations exceeded well and truly. Well done lads, also Daws and team!
totally agree….just re watched the highlights, I think that 2nd half is the best football I’ve ever seen city play. Outstanding turnaround….I was dreading relegation 4 games ago! Give Daws the gaffers job, he’s earnt it
It’s like a narrow 4-2-3-1 with Slater and Doc more advanced either side of Pelkas. Working nicely at the minute
I think you are right. Our failure to prevent crosses and letting unmarked opponents drift in to score at the back post has cost us up until the last two games. Blackburn are going well and will test us. Lets see how Andy dawson and his team set us up on saturday to improve our team defensively. Three wins out of the five before the world cup would see us on around 30 points from 21 games. With players starting to return and a stronger squad for the 2nd half of the season.
