Young small side comes up against a big team in the league who have physical players and gets smashed.

It's like we've learned nothing from league one.

How can young players not learn from this? That is a ridiculous thing to say. We have quality technical players, we have all enjoyed watching the team play this season but we will have off games/halves - every team does.

We are missing Ballard and Stewart who are 2 huge players for us

Technical will never hit physicality. You need a blend. We don't have it. It's why Man City went out and got Haaland, Rodri etc. You need a blend.

Fair enough. They more than deserve it based on the 2nd half. Able to adapt and up the gears. Look a really good team. First chink in Mowbrays armor, maybe. Not sure what the message at half time was but we needed to try and close the game out 2nd half and hopefully sneak another on the break. Subs seemed a bit knee-jerk. Ballard back will be a big help. That said, I think 09 was pretty good today. Evans is a worry for me. I'd break the bank for a rock solid replacement for Evans and another striker in Jan.

first half, amad was everywhere till he scored then hardly involved.

embo and dan neil played more like i expect them to, winning balls and playing some good passes, defence was solid for what they had to do, our off the ball work was excellent as mentioned by @FellTop.

if someone can tell me WTF happened second half i would appreciate it, we dropped off first half and let them knock it side to side but we just did not come out second half competing...first goal we should have done more (set play again, getting to be a habit) the second goal was the killer and exactly the type of goal to go against you when things are just not running for you, third goal was yet another 'worldy' and that fourth was just a 'freebie' for them.

lack of experience showing?
lack of recognised strikers?
too many learning their trade together?

cannot fault the players as i honestly don't think any of them let the side down, to win the first half against a team that was 2 divisions higher than us was an excellent start...take it on the chin lads and move onto the next one, well done burnley, many would have let heads drop.

would just like to add i cannot remember a bad call from the officials so no blame on them this time.

City go out and get technical players so thats a poor example, if you can get technical physical players then of course thats ideal. 2 of our most physical players are out injured and getting Stewart and Ballard back will make a huge difference to the team.

Had no expectations going into this season but now I'd be disappointed if we didn't get playoffs this season. Once Ballard and LND are back, I don't see any reason we can't challenge for automatics.

We should have beaten Blackburn if it weren't for some awful refereeing, and have been unlucky in other games (Norwich and Sheff U spring to mind). Add 6 points to our total and we'd be right in the mix. And that's with some key players missing the majority of the season.

I'm keeping my stupid mouth shut next time <laugh>

I'd agree on your comment about Evans, I think thats the most important position and think we are lacking in that area. I do think Neil will be class playing that position but wont be for a couple of years until he is

No one to hold the ball up and relieve pressure 2nd half. Tumbling down the table. If speakman was worthy of praise when we were in the play off spots he deserves what's coming now

Mate was saying a woman was shouting "Sunderland fans have short memories" as people were leaving. So because we were in leauge one, and I'm not one for booing or leaving early (propels choice) how many seasons are people supposed to happy clap and cheer no matter what happens exactly?

As many seasons as it takes, if a young team are improving.

Wow not really sure what to put that down to. Walking back to the car not angry just feel a bit strange. Barring a worldie for 3-2 I don't think they were that good. I guess inexperience was our downfall today we still wanted to do everything at 100mph when it got back to 2-1 and they just grew from there momentum. Honestly don't think we were 2 goals better first half and apart from the last 10 mins they weren't 4 goals better second half. Strange game
