Obertan missing has actually worried me more than I thought it would. Mainly because, with Shola out, we'll not have many options to change things up.

If we start with Ben Arfa, who will we have to change it if it's going wrong?

With Marveaux in, will we have sufficient work rate to stop Baines marauding forward?

With Guthrie on the right, we're always turd.

    Conundrums.

Pardew will have the answers, I wouldn't worry. Who will we have to change it?? Have you forgotten about a certain Samuel Ameobi??

marveaux certainly has the work rate but he's not as fast as obertan but he's quicker than most. i just hope he keeps chalk on his boots to give baines something to think about.

i reckon we shouldn't start with Ben Arfa but we will see him at some point. i reckon we should see whether our midfield can cope with their extra man and then make that particular call.

Meh, we're the home team... Play an attacking midfielder like Marveaux and force Baines to stay in his own half for the majority of the game.

If Marv starts we have Ben Arfa, Sammy Ameobi, Gosling/Abeid and Lovenkrands on the bench most probaly.

Thing with Marveuax's work rate, I'd have agreed before the Blackburn CC game. But everything dangerous came, practically unchallenged down his and Danny Simpson's side!

The Everton one was brilliant. The bit about Ashley, Nolan and Barton was hilarious and I couldn't believe how thorough his knowledge of another club was.

I can't see Marveaux starting on the right, it's really not his game from what I've seen. I'd rather see Santon come in as a direct replacement for Obertan, I think Pardew will go with Guthrie out wide though.

Apart from that we'll be unchanged, he certainly won't shuffle the back four.

Have to agree, with Marveaux on that side, by cutting inside (which he will naturally do, being left footed) he will create plenty of space for Simpson to bomb forward and get balls in the box. Whatever happens, we'll see a slight change in the way we play on Saturday due to Obertan being out.

As long as Marveaux and Simpson work together in attack and defence then I don't have any issues with the right hand side.

Time and time again we've seen that Guthrie is not suited to the right wing position as he naturally tries to get into the centre and leaves massive gaps down the flank. It's as if he is allergic to the longer white lines on a pitch.

    Back 4 unchanged.
Jonas, Tiote (if fit, if not Guthrie), Cabaye and Marveaux in midfield
    Ba and Best up front.

Read these yesterday great views from both sides and would have to agree a draw would seem the more likly to me (though I'd prefer the win)

Marveaux to start on the right for me, always looked a good player when I've seen him play

    I'd go for:

    Krul
    Simpson Taylor Coloccini Taylor
    Santon Guthrie Cabaye Jonas
    Timebomb Best

I kind of hope Best doesn't score (for the sixth game in a row). It gives us an excuse to go 4-5-1 for the Manchester games with Guthrie, Tiote and Cabaye in the middle. Then if we want to go more aggressive for the Chelsea game we can play Best/Ben Arfa instead of the third midfielder. If Guthrie keeps his place for that game it would mean he's had five good games in a row, and is surely a good thing if he's keeping Cabaye or Tiote out. I'd also be less worried about the ACoN. If he doesn't play well we're back to what we all considered our strongest line up, so it's no big deal.
