I know this may surprise people, but Paul "Seaman" Staines appears to be telling porkies...

Johnson's return is soooo illogical and dangerous that it seems the inevitable outcome. At a time when we need stability and really smart decisions, at first bidding, we're probably looking at a specialist in prevarication, lawless chaos and u-turns...so that a few more Tories can keep their seats, in opposition, at the next election.

It should see the end of the Tory party and the nation finally understanding the need for a proper written constitution...but this country and the majority of its people, will pay a terrible price for it.

The most depressing factor, beyond those pathetic Tory MP's grovelling for Johnson's return, is the level of indoctrination that appears to have riddled the general public around England. <doh>

Despite actual evidence to the contrary, identifying the blond cnut as a lying, cheating, law-breaking, corrupt failure, they still think he is the ****ing Messiah.

Client journalists and Murdochs influence have a lot to answer for...:steam:

I think they are forgetting how unpopular he was at the end. The same people that thought Truss would do a good job, want Johnson back. They are deluded.

I'm not sure that there is such large support for his return in the electorate. I think that the polls reflect that people have had enough of the Tories, no matter who leads them. Barring the end of the war in Ukraine and an immediate economic upturn, or a nuclear war in Europe, I can't see anything that would make sufficient difference for them and Johnson doesn't have it in him to get this right..

We may not be able to stop them doing it, but it will be deeply unpopular with a lot of people to begin with and once he starts spreading further chaos, it could become very damaging for many.

Hope you're right, but if anything has been verified over the past 6 years or so is the sheer stupidity of the English electorate!

Support for him seems to be the Tory Brexit brigade still. They overlook the fact that he cannot "deliver Brexit" again and so pick up votes from non Tory brexiteers and also that many more have seen what an unpleasant character he really is. So if they expect another 80 seat majority under his leadership they are sadly deluded.
Let's face it a coalition of Ghandi, Mother Theresa and Nelson Mandela would not be able to get the Tories into power again so Bojo is just an unfunny joke.

In many ways, yes. But the markets are already showing signs of concern about what happens next. If Johnson becomes PM and this does happen, will the cost of borrowing increase again?

Alternatively, do the Tories find a way of allowing him to dodge the process and likely outcome? We're then living in a country without democracy and the rule of law. Not a particularly edifying prospect.

My sole hope is that enough Tory MP's have it in them to refuse the Tory whip, but I'm placing little real faith in that.

That they're considering bringing him back while he's still under investigation is ludicrous.
The Pincher thing should've killed his career as a politician completely.
Can't say that I'm surprised that it hasn't, though.

Before the next time we get to vote, he's got a year and a half during the worst economic conditions since the war and no ability to borrow or put off some terrible financial decisions. He'll make things worse for everyone, including the Tories.

No way those numbers will hold up, but it's interesting to see that the Tory floor has gone.
I wonder if they could split and really **** the right wing?
Might cause an increase in support for some electoral reform from that end.

What's the black bit in what looks like Wigan or somewhere close to it?
