I remember when we used to laugh at the Eyetalians and their ‘new PM every 3months’ routine. Now look at us
On the local news last night I heard Mark Garnier MP (Conservative) argue that having an election now wouldn’t be fair or ‘good for democracy’, because the Tories with a brand new (or perhaps shop soiled) leader next week ‘won’t be ready’. Honestly.
Looks like it'll come down to Sunak v Johnson and of course when it goes to the Tory membership (that most discerning of electorates) they'll plump for reinstating the racist, homophobic, sexually incontinent, compulsive liar rather elect a brown man who is far better qualified for the job. National humiliation will be complete.
If Boris makes 100 votes. He's on 31 according to Sky. Rishi's on 46. There may yet only be one name on the Monday ballot.
Exactly, Bob. 357. So I assume the way it works is that only 2 can go through to Monday and then the members' online vote. It could be only one, if the other votes are split, in which case the sole person who has 100 becomes PM immediately on Monday. If no one gets 100 because the votes are split between a large number of candidates, then who knows? But this is highly unlikely since only those who feel they can achieve 100 will put their name forward.
If Johnson gets through to the last two and wins, should be a fun ride given that 75 Tory MPs publicly called for him to resign in the months running up to his actual resignation, and 53 ministers resigned from his government because of his behaviour. I’m sure he, and his official arse lickers Dorries and Rees Mogg have a full list of names. Apparently a fair number of these might resign the Tory whip, or even resign their seats, if the members vote Johnson back in. Only takes 36 to vote against the Government in a confidence vote for an election to be inevitable (perhaps a few more, I’ve lost track of how many sitting MPs of any party have lost the whip for various sordid activities). Massive chasm opening up between Tory party members and Tory MPs. Perhaps a few members will defect to their true spiritual home, the Reform Party, if Johnson misses out. Johnson could be the four horsemen of the Tory apocalypse rolled into one pale, quivering lump of blubber. Bring it on! Vote Boris!
So the last week ...politics in this country has been in turmoil. We have had fireworks in the Commons. It is over now...as Truss resigns and we look forward to a new PM. Boris...HAS CUT SHORT HIS HOLIDAY in the Caribbean to come back to garner support. CUT SHORT HIS HOLIDAY!!! whilst the country and his party has been falling apart ( whilst Tory whips are pushing people through division doors to try and hold the government in place) This is ridiculous ..that he should not even be considered. Please all you Tories out there...just think ...of your/ our country
