Ipswich fan here. Wondered how Darren O'Dea is performing for you ? We also had him on loan last season.
He ****ed up last week when chasing a ball back to his own keeper, got a shove, stayed up, overran the ball, and forward put in back of net. He has scored 2 crutial goals for us giving us victories. He has good games and not such good games....
Erratic with good and bad moments. Overall average and probably bench quality. Then again, that tends to be true of nearly all our free/loan signings.
Keogh, Pugh and Bannan have all been erratic to an extent (Keogh certainly so in front of goal). Out of those, I'd say Lichaj was the only consistent player. Still, four modest successes out of dozens of loan signings doesn't really inspire confidence!
ok i know what you were saying, i just wanted to be a smartass. But i disagree with you, i think keogh has been our best loan signing and i think he is easily our best striker. He's not a goalscorer which is a shame but he provides so much more for a team, his understanding of the game is excellent, his little touches are also excellent. From what i've seen of him, i kinda dont understand why he isnt in the wolves starting line-up
He does have a decent technique to his game, and is better than Becchio in that respect, but I think he'll eventually be forced out when Becchio's back fully sharp again. The Keogh-McCormack partnership relies so heavily on the second partner that when things are going against us, it can be more of a hindrance than a help. It's at times like these that we might need Becchio, someone who can get dug in and score some vital goals. If we can't win on Sunday, I think we need to be proactive and switch things around, because without goals, our team is nothing. It's for the above reason that I don't think he can get into the Wolves team. If he were a central midfielder, he'd probably be a really good player, but I think players like him, Emile Heskey and co. get stick for a reason. Strikers are meant to be goalscorers!
no, i disagree, strikers are not meant to be goalscorers and there has been so many strikers that have played very well and not scored there goals. You need to expect goals to come from all areas of the pitch as well as having your natural goalscorer alongside them. I seriously cannot see becchio getting back in that team while keogh is fit.
Josh, did you just say strikers are not meant to be goalscorers? Bannan hardly played, he clearly has quality but Grayson chose not to use him. Everyone raves about Lichaj but I think he had a slow start, he was caught out of position a few times and a lot of goals came from his side. He did improve, though.
clive, i did say strikers are not meant to be goalscorers, however that was combatting Leeds-18 saying they were meant to be goalscorers. You get different type of strikers, some like keogh who you dont pick for goalscoring however you pick because he creates so much.
i dont like the analogy of heskey julst because he is one of the worse strikers i've ever seen in an england shirt but yea.
Ha ah! That's because he didn't score though. Heskey's strength was setting things up for others, something he excelled at. He terrifies defences with his power and strength. But you do need him to play alongside a poacher, that's why he prospered alongside Owen. Don't forget, he was pivotal in England's most famous 5-1 win in Germany ten years ago.
