I'm pretty sure I've banged on about this lot on here before but the double whammy of spotting amongst your Videos The Way I Walk, a song I love, coupled with a performance at the 100 Club that I was actually at, and ****ing awesome they were, I give you His Lordship and if you ever get the chance to see them Brian I can thoroughly recommend them!
Actually if you check out the guy's other videos he's got a few more tracks from that night including I Live in the City which is a particular favourite of mine as well as a version of Red Hot as well!
Another Robert Gordon version of 'The Way I Walk', this time with the excellent Reverend Horton Heat...
OK.... I'll probably get slaughtered for this but..... Duran Duran. (As he grabs his coat and makes for the nearest exit....)
Not a record that I've heard for over 40 years...possibly, if ever. I know people who owned it back in the day...and Mrs B was a big fan as a 'teeny bopper' in the early 80's and still goes dewy eyed at the mere mention of John Taylor. Should I listen to it...? Possibly. Will I...? Just about maybe...if you strongly recommend it. It has to be said that I preferred Spandau Ballet to 'The Durannies', have seen them live and own a copy of Parade, which is a very decent album. That said, Duran Duran did some decent singles and I ****ing hate 'True' by Spandau Ballet.
I would say give it a listen. As a first album it had a couple monster pop songs on it that have lasted the test of time. Planet Earth & Girls on Film. Rio was the 2nd album the really brought them to notice, but the first album set the scene. Talented musicians and great songwriters - just got pigeon-holed with the other new romantics. Annoyingly, John Taylor is still too fecking good-looking!
Thanks BBMC, you can definitely hear the BetaBand influence in this , I just got the Unthanks new album Sorrows Away which I highly recommend and also managed to get a copy off Ebay of Sarah jarosz Blue Heron Suit for a good price , these are on rotation on my deck at the moment

An old friend of mine went to school with Al Stewart, and we went to see him lots of times in the late 70s before America discovered him, he was very shy when we met him and one of his road crew took our addresses after he left , couple of weeks later I received all of his albums up to Year Of The Cat which I still treasure. I still go to see him if I fancy the venue
Nice! Did he send the really early ones, like Love Chronicles. I believe he is a little embarrassed by them now. He's playing Cadogan Hall in Sloane Square for the next few nights. A few tickets left I believe.
